“Given the difficulty Illinois is having with its economic recovery, any initiative aimed at creating private sector jobs should be of the highest priority,” said McSweeney. “I hope the Governor signs this legislation as soon as possible.”

This measure, House Bill 4910, is a measure supported by the Illinois Manufacturers Association that specifically encourages job-training partnerships between manufacturers and community colleges.

The measure includes no new state spending and does not contain any mandates.

“As I’ve stated before, we need to rethink the way we view our educational system’s relationship with private businesses and manufacturers in ways that can benefit both. I think we’ve accomplished this here.”

Senator Mike Connelly sponsored the bill in the Senate.
