The following email tells what it’s all about follows:

Watershed planning is a community supported approach to conserving local land and water resources.

When funded by the federal Clean Water Act, planning emphasis is typically focused on protecting or improving the water quality of streams and lakes through measures that reduce or eliminate nonpoint-source pollution. Other complementary objectives are often pursued too including conservation of both groundwater quality and quantity, restoring healthy aquatic life, and reducing the risk of flood damage.

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) will lead the planning effort with a Clean Water Act grant from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

CMAP invites community members who live or work in these watersheds to join us by participating in this unique planning opportunity.

If you have any questions, please contact one us. In the meantime, we will send you an agenda and other information later this month and look forward to seeing you next month in Woodstock.

  1. Homeowners in areas treated as toilets by McHenry County (grounds onto which runoff water is flushed, reservoir grounds for containing water that future profligate water users will confiscate)might be well advised to take evasive action.

  2. Places this map calls “public open space” are actually McHenry County Conservation District land; land already tax funded.

    Tread carefully!
