CL Library Winning Sign War

The yard sign campaign of the Crystal Lake Library District is evident on Dole Avenue.

The yard sign campaign of the Crystal Lake Library District is evident on Dole Avenue.

If a candidate running for office could place as many yard signs as have supporters of the Crystal Lake Library, people would think he or she was winning the campaign.

There is nothing on the ballot concerning the CL Library at the moment.

Supporters are apparently ramping up in an attempt to convince Crystal Lake City Council members to either issue bonds to construct a new building or put a referendum on the fall ballot to that effect.=

I learned Wednesday that these yard signs were handed out to participants in the summer reading program. Sorry I didn’t add that to the story before it went up.

CL Library Winning Sign War — 2 Comments

  1. It’s actually part a national program that promotes summer reading.

Kids and families are encouraged to read and log minutes.

Those families who participate can receive a yard sign indicating they are part of the program.

    It’s on their website.

I doubt there is any nefarious subplot involved here, although I’m sure the majority of your readers will likely disagree with my opinion on that.

  2. It’s a good idea. The signs gin up positive recognition for the library.

When the tax hike comes along people will have sympathetic feelings for CLL and anyone against hiking taxes will be thought of as a mean-headed-ninny.

They work hard for the fruits of our labor!
