When we left Crystal Lake’s 4th of July Parade, the Crystal Lake Public Library entry had just passed.
Next up was Congressman Peter Roskam.
His wife Elizabeth was holding up one of his yard signs.
Bruce Rauner’s and Randy Hultgren’s banners were carried in tandem down the street, but there was no sign of either candidate.
Then, there they were, walking up the street.
The two of them turned around and started walking back toward the Main Beach.
This was a good strategy, except that it should have been stared a bit earlier so both could have walked the whole parade route.
Following the two was the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Jim Oberweis.
Turning the lens back to the parade coming down the street, I caught the Paul Schimpf for Attorney General contingent.
And then came the McHenry County Young Republicans.
On the side of the tank were numerous signs.
Mike Tryon marched behind the YR entry with supporters.
State Senator Karen McConnaughay also had walkers there.
Mary McClellan carried her banner of County Clerk with her husband Nunda Township Trustee Edward Gill on the other end.
Also sighted were people wearing Oberweis for U.S. Senator shirts.
Interspersed were people wearing Barb Wheeler for State Representative tee shirts.
Some of Wheeler’s supporters were roller skating.
Althoff said this was her fourth parade of the weekend. The others were in Spring Grove, Wonder Lake and Fox Lake.
Showing support for local Republicans was State Rep. candidate Steve Reick. His 63rd District actually has one precinct on Crystal Lake’s far northwest side.
