This message from a group called “Don’t Change Barrington Hills” popped into my email inbox today:

The President and Board of Trustees will make a decision this coming Monday night, July 28, regarding the reclassification of our roads to be consist[ent] with our Comprehensive Plan and the Resolution Request not to execute the construction of bike lanes, markings or sign-age of any kind in Barrington Hills.

A lot is at stake at Monday night’s board meeting.

At stake is whether we will succumb to development pressure, increase traffic noise, higher taxes, reduced property values, and a lower quality of life.

It is imperative that you attend!

Let President McLaughlin and the Trustees know, that we stand strong and we expect them to do what is best for the long term vision of Barrington Hills!

See you Monday night at 6:30.

Best regards,

Don’t Change Barrington Hills

Linked in the email is this article about Campton Hills, an 11,000-person village mostly east of Route 47 in Campton Township in Kane County.

There is some connection to an improvement proposed for Haegers Bend Road.

The web site shows the bike lane opponents have used a technique I have suggested for over five years–cameras to catch sign thieves.
