Bicyclist Hit by Trailblazer on Miller Road

A press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department:

Crystal Lake Traffic Crash – Miller Road at Heaven’s Gate

On Wednesday, July 30th, 2014 at 5:00 PM, emergency crews responded to a report of a traffic
crash on Miller Road at Heaven’s Gate, the southern border of Crystal Lake.

Upon arrival crews found the crash involved a Chevrolet Trailblazer and a bicyclist.

An Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Rescue ambulance immediately transported the bicyclist to Sherman Hospital in Elgin for evaluation and treatment.

Subsequent to an investigation, it was determined the bicyclist; Kevin R. Young (28) last
known address Arlington Heights, IL had been travelling eastbound on Miller Road at Heaven’s
Gate, when the Chevrolet Trailblazer, operated by Jacob Regul (30) of Lake in the Hills, was
westbound Miller Road and attempted to turn left on to Heaven’s Gate.

The Trailblazer and the bicycle collided within the intersection. As stated, Kevin Young was transported to Sherman Hospital with injuries that were serious but not believed life-threatening.

Jacob Regul, and a passenger in the Trailblazer were not injured in this crash.

Jacob Regul was arrested by Crystal Lake Police for driving while license suspended (a Class A
Misdemeanor) and was also cited for failure to yield when turning left (petty offense).

Miller Road was closed from the time of this crash to all vehicular traffic to allow police to
document and investigate the incident, and is expected to be opened by 7:45 PM.

This matter remains under investigation by the Crystal Lake Police Department.
