Chicago’s CBS station ventured out to McHenry County Tuesday to do a story on the shut down of the Oakwood Village Hall, which McHenry County Blog first reported Friday night.

OH CBS closed

The reporting crew did not have to venture far into McHenry County.

The only new information was that the Police Chief has contacted the State’s Attorney’s Office about the threat or threats.

The Oakwood Hills Police Chief was interviewed.

Oakwood Hills Police Chief Peter Goldman was interviewed.

Some are wondering whether village government is needed.

There is not city sewer or water.

It has been pointed out that police protection would be provided by the Sheriff’s Department if village government were disbanded.

If enhanced police protection were desired, a special service area could be created for that purpose.

  1. I believe that if the village president is unable or unwilling to perform duties of office, village trustees may appoint a replacement.

  2. Is this shut down a request by the village President or was it recommended by the police department?

You don’t shut down a place because of a personal threat or a building threat for that matter.

  3. If the village would be disbanded then the demographics would really change in the area, the lake and park would be a free for all and property values would plummet.

  4. Such ridiculous behavior by the President.

The other board members should put pressure on her to open the Village Hall.

Enough is enough, prove it Funk

  6. “FUNK” You are absolutely ridiculous.

    It is not vicious there.

You are upset because people are venting their opinions.

In America, it is called freedom of speech. You just don’t want to answer to the people.

If you can’t handle your job then resign.

It appears, that you have taken no steps to be proactive about the contested power plant. Which by the way, you fail to admit to our tax payers that the plan has been in place for 4 years and it was only disclosed to the public recently.

    Your’e coward.

Get a backbone and start doing the job you were assigned to do.

False allegations, false arrests and false prosecutions will not be tolerated in McHenry County…

And, by the way, the people have the right to freedom of speech.

  10. Hey funk, “COME ON DOWN” time play those famous Tv shows “Let’s Make a Deal” because “The Price is Right”

  16. The village of Oakwood Hills uses its police department to intimidate its residence.

The Village is just over one square mile in total area, and boast a police force that has several police cars and two military Humvee’s to patrol an town the average person can walk across in minutes.

The Village is run by the Police Chief Peter Goldman and not the Village Board.

I recently receive a ticket for a overgrown lawn in the middle of December 2014.

The Ticket #00987 was issued badge #598 on December 19, 2014.

Merry Christmas from our friends at the Oakwood Hills Police Department.

The ticket states there will be a warrant for my arrest if I fail to show in court on January 15, 2015.

Note that this was the first contact the village had with me over the issue.

At no time did the village attempt to contact me to discuss the issue.

After calling Village President Paul Smith to discuss the issue, he directed me back to the police department to plea my case.

It was obvious that the police chief gives orders to the President of the Village.

I highly recommend not moving into this Village.

I was going to build a home on a lot a purchased, but have decided to build elsewhere.

I think the people in the village are very nice, but the police department drives up and down the streets all day long looking to violate residence at ever opportunity.

This year the village has budgeted $16,500 in police car gasoline.

That’s enough gas to drive the average car 165,000 miles, or around the one square mile of the town 41,250 times a year.

In Oakwood Hills there are no main roads that go through the Village, so the police force tickets residence of the village most of the time.

Last year the village collected $62,000 in ticketing finds.

Considering that the village has 719 households, that equates to $86. per household in ticketing finds.
