McHenry County Blog must be doing something that disturbs somebody.

It was under cyber attack yesterday, resulting in the need to install a more robust and expensive firewall.

Sorry for the inconvenience some readers had.

  1. Local blogger remains undeterred after cyber attacks shut down blog.

Only 2 months until November elections.

  2. Which sheriff’s candidate was behind it?

Or was it the local cabal?

  3. **McHenry County Blog must be doing something that disturbs somebody.**

LOL – you how many times random websites are hit with “cyber attacks”?

It likely has absolutely nothing to do with anything that you’re doing.

  4. Oh, Dave! Wake up.

    Cal is a rabble rouser.

Have you never heard that if you are catching flack you are definitely over your target?

  5. I’m with Dave on this.

Cindy, you probably no little to nothing about how websites work.

It’s important to point out that Cal outsources his hosting, so the company that houses his data would be the party attacked and it probably had nothing to do with Cal.

Secondly, if his WordPress account was ‘hacked’ then why didn’t the hacker change any content? This is just attention seeking hyperbole and feather fluffing.

My guess is that Cal has little to no security on his personal PC, therefore, unless you count a Nigerian Prince as being ‘disturbed’ by Cal’s content, most likely the ‘hack’ wasn’t a hack at all but rather Skinner clicking a bad link, downloading malware, opening an attachment he shouldn’t, or possibly he just has really bad security on his home network.

If he had to install an expensive firewall, it would be on his own PC because his hosting company would already have network security.

Effectively, I hope people realize the liability Skinner is due to his network security being so lax.

Finally, I want to point out that the McHenry County Blog isn’t an institution, it’s Cal Skinner.

So whenever he says ‘A friend of the blog’ or ‘the blog was attacked,’ instead think ‘a friend of mine’ or ‘I was attacked.’

    This guy is an amateur.

  6. Thanks for the personal attack, Front.

But, you see I DO know how to spell know.

(And, I DO have my own website so, so much for not knowing.)

  7. Front page and Dave I also agree with you guys.

Cal has a great blog and this happens all the time.

Cindy likes to make comments of negativity and always thinks the worse.

  8. Front Page: I’ll take an amateur over the professional on the internet any day!!

Professionals mostly work for the MSM.

Even Breitbart and Huffington use primarily amateurs.

Also, DDoS and DoS ARE attacks – not hacks.

There are many people out there ready to make a buck for launching DoS and DDoS attacks.

The question could be: Who paid for the attacks?

  9. I thought Gore ‘created’ the Internet.

After reading the drivel posted above, I learn it was really Front Page who did.

  10. My point was a firewall would not prevent an attack on the blog Bc Skinner has a third party web server and to the best of my knowledge I’ve never heard of a hosting company that expects users to supply security.

And yes, muhahaha I created the internet!

The jokes on all of you haters!

    This is Al Gore!

  11. Gee, Cal, you must be telling too much truth to too many people about the CFI and other inconvenient issues.

    Please continue.

  12. Gosh, I wonder what the boys from the local 150 are up to. Just a thought guys, the FBI can find you, so don’t bother hiding…lol…

Newsflash boys, your not invincible! Nygren and Zinke will be gone soon.!

Whatsa matter no new employment opportunities for work, building that infamous power plant?

He Chucki Babe, you better rein in your employees…

  13. By the way Dave, McHenry County Blog is not a random website.

In fact, McHenry County blog has made a huge impact on politics on McHenry County.

Many individuals, from the regime do have the knowledge and ability to hack into websites.

    Cal is right on target!
