What Tax Districts Are Doing What to You This Year

Taxpayer being wrung out dolloars falling

McHenry County is in the top thirty counties in the United States when one compares property taxes to family income.

With tax bills due Thursday, September 4th, I thought readers might be interesting in comparing what tax districts billed last year, compared to this year.

Here is an article summarizing what various types of tax districts did.

Below are links to comparisons for various types of local governments in McHenry County.

  • Schools, junior colleges, McHenry County and the Conservation District are here.
  • Find a comparison of this year’s and last year’s municipal tax takes (Crystal Lake has the highest increase) here.
  • A township government tax comparison is here.
  • Fire Protection Districts are here.
  • You can compare this year’s park district tax takes with last year’s here.
  • The same comparison can be found for townships here.

A comparison of how we fare compared to other northern Illinois counties can be found here.

  1. Do all the comparisons you want on tax rates, it will not change the fact that in Illinois we have a severe problem with the voters.

    Voters elected the Madigan machine.

In this County they approved the election of a County Chairman which will INCREASE the cost of County government.

It will also increase CAMPAIGN spending to the tune of about $100,000!

Most of this money will come from PACs who are funded in a large part with taxpayer dollars funneled through UNIONS!

Voters refuse to accept the fact that we over pay our public sector employees relative to what taxpayers can afford.

Illinois ranks at Number 1 when you compare to other states what we pay our Police.

The main changes needed in Illinois are:

    1. End prevailing wage laws!
http://www.illinois.gov/idol/Laws-Rules/CONMED/Rates/14-06Jun/MCHENRY9.htm Paying $58.00 per hour for a Laborer certainly reduces the ‘bang for the buck’ of all taxpayer dollars!

    2. Remove the twenty year and out option for retirement from all public sector jobs.

    3. End public sector collective bargaining.

    4. Remove Common Core from the Illinois school system.
While you digest this comment remember that most federal transfer of wealth includes a clause

At the federal level, Project Labor Requirements (PLAs) are becoming more and more common.

    Some states PROHIBIT PLAs: http://www.abc.org/EducationTraining/AcademyPages/tabid/340/entryid/381/Government-Neutraility-Statutes-Enacted-Through-Legislation.aspx

The President issued an Executive order – 13673 – which contains the following statement:

“This order seeks to increase efficiency and cost savings in the work performed by parties who contract with the Federal Government by ensuring that they understand and comply with labor laws.”

PLAs unnecessarily increase the cost of ALL projects using taxpayer dollars!

You can build five schools for the current price of four without PLAs! http://www.abc.org/EducationTraining/AcademyPages/tabid/340/entryid/451/Project-Labor-Agreements-on-California-School-Construction-Raise-Costs-up-to-15-Percent-Study-Says.aspx

Remember vote for Steve Reick and DUMP the other guy!

  2. Eliminating townships will reduce one layer of government and its costs; relying on property tax to pay pensions is highway robbery, this should be part of current year budget; and really this should be converted to 401K or equivalent anyway as the rest of the industry is doing because its not affordable.
