Telling Customers Cleanliness of Restaurants, CL Ratings 1776 – Crystal Brewing

Led by McHenry County Board members Donna Kurtz, John Hammerand and Paula Yensen, the Public Health Committee supported having restaurant inspections made more public than they are now.

Opposing the proposal were Mary McCann and Anna May Miller.

Health Dept restaurant rating KY Waffle House

The local Kentucky health department south of the Illinois border posts sanitation ratings on restaurants.

You may remember that McHenry County Blog broached the subject after seeing an “A” stuck on the window near the door of a Waffle House just south of the Ohio River just west of Paducah, Kentucky.

Competing on sanitation ratings could well bring cleaner restaurants.

I asked for the last two sanitation ratings and will run the results for the two Crystal Lake zip codes for the next five days.

Here’s the top of the alphabet:

Restaurant sanitation ratings for Crystal Lake, 1776 through

  1. I hope that you continue with other zip codes after 5 days.

This is great, thank you supporting board members.

I seriously wonder, why any member might oppose this?

  2. I would also like to know why it’s ok for a restaurant to have no hot water in the bathroom.

Especially when its the only bathroom in the place (and the staff is using it too).

The Health Department spends lots of money putting up signs saying “Wash Hands before returning to work” but they allow the owners to “turn off” the hot water in the bathroom to save a few dollars.

  3. And the public believes that these inspections are totally impartial?

Anyone remember how car dealerships were selectively CLOSED after the GM takeover?

  4. McCann and Miller are only projecting ……………… they wouldn’t want an inspection of their homes made public …..particularly the washrooms!

    Something really stinks about this.
