It didn’t take long for the County Board campaign in District 1 to slink into the gutter.
Challenger Andrew Gasser had his 4×4 signs out 60 days in front of the election and staked out prime locations.
Now those sign locations are being obstructed by both Nick Chirikos and Bob Nowak signs.
This Nick Chirikos sign located at Three Oaks Road and Route 14 misses the mark with Andrew Gasser, but clearly is obstructing the Bill Prim sign.
The Nick Chirkos sign is less than 12 feet away from the Republican signs which were placed long before Democrat Chirikos’. There are over 40 feet of free space behind the Bill Prim sign.
The next sign location is in Cary along Route 14 as you drive into Fox River Grove.
Here you can see where both Nick Chirikos and Robert Nowak signs are placed quite close to Gasser’s. There is over a block of space just to the west.
Are Nick Chirikos, Democrat, and Bob Nowak, Republican, actively working against challenger Andrew Gasser, Republican?
Of course if you take the picture from the other direction of traffic than the Prim and Gasser signs would appear to be blocking the others.
A bit confused, are these one way roads?
I think I may have a new criteria for candidates whomever whines the least publicly about the silly sign games that go on in each election gets bonus points in my book.
I think the whole point was who was there first.
Talk about a dichotomy! Chirikos – integrity? What a sick joke! The guy tries to shut down public input and places his campaign sign on a vehicle along with Republican signs! He campaigns for non sanctioned horse racing when the residents in the unincorporated are staunchly opposed! Integrity? Not one iota!!!

Thank you for making the point that Chirikos could have simply put the sign way down on the other side and everyone would have been happy.
But that is not what he did and that is not what he does.
I suppose you think its ok for Nick to vote to make public comment at the end of the meeting after all the votes instead of where it traditionally is – at the beginning.
I suppose you also think its ok to keep taxpayer funded audits secret and not let the public look at them.
There is an enormous difference between Gasser, Chirikos, and Nowak.

These signs are on Private property where the owners gave permission to Gasser & Prim.

I use my own critical thinking on each issue.

Prim signs up on permitted properties and then all of a sudden Harrison signs pop up on each side of Prim’s.
A friend I know with several properties had this happen and they took down the Harrison signs.
Even took them to the local municipal building and left them there.
Petty Harrison signs on right of ways all along roads and some municipalities have their trucks go out and remove them.

On the topic of removing illegally-posted signs (and on a slightly different issue), I was told by the City of Woodstock several years ago that, if I removed illegally-posted garage sale signs, I would be arrested.
Actually, it was a heavy-handed response to my inquiry about whether I could remove garage-sale signs from utility poles and rights-of-way.
Florida DOT trains volunteers to remove signs from the right-of-way.
IDOT could do that, but won’t.
Plus IDOT won’t remove illegally-posted signs (no manpower, no money to do so).
Plus the stupid General Assembly broadened the law for leaving signs up after elections. I
f you are going to run in 2016 or 2020 or 2024, you can just leave your sign up.
Altogether now, say, “Thank you, Legislators.”
