Harrison Endorsed by Daily Herald

Jim Harrison

Jim Harrison

The Daily Herald, which has most of its circulation in the southeastern part of McHenry County, has endorsed Jim Harrison for Sheriff.

While the editorial has nice things to say about both candidates, it comes down on Harrison’s side because

“the position of sheriff is more than just that of a top cop. A sheriff sets policy, prepares and executes multimillion-dollar budgets, deals with complicated labor issues and more. For those duties, we believe Harrison, with his more well-rounded resume, business experience and legal background, holds an edge.”

Harrison Endorsed by Daily Herald — 33 Comments

  1. That ‘endorsement’ gained him 11 votes, but lost him 28 votes …. for a net loss 17.

It’s actually more advantageous for Harrison to have gotten the endorsements of the Nome Sun, the Otago Daily Times (New Zealand)and Cairo’s Al-Ahram Weekly than that thin rag …….

  2. Bill’s administrative experience far exceeds any of Harrison’s.

Having managed a small law office myself, I know that it is not anywhere enough for the sheriff’s position.

  3. People by now know that whatever Harrison says is exaggerated.

He has a little law office with his wife as a secretary and one other person.

How is that beneficial to running administrative duties in the Sheriff’s department?

Prim’s administrative experience is well advanced compared to Harrison’s.

Maybe Harrison knows how much toner to purchase for the copy machines or has the knowledge to know how many pens to order for each department , that he might have the advantage of BUT Prim is the complete package.

Taking that into consideration, read the whole article and actually I read it as the Herald thought Prim was more qualified.

If they were against Prim that much they would not have mentioned all his qualifications so much.

  4. I am glad to see that this paper understands that a Sheriff Department needs an administrator who can do more than walk a beat or be led like a K9 doggie from outside the department.

  5. and that describes Zinke and Harrison.

Read Prim’s Facebook and see all of his qualifications including administrator.

To be a good administrator you have to know what the Sheriff’s department entails and that Harrison does not know. He was employed by the department 25 years ago.

    Things change.

  6. Yesterday during the terrible event Prim posted on his Facebook a picture and information of the shooter. Prim showed concern for the community,

    and what was Harrison doing?

Oh, probably he was out buying tape to repair a torn campaign sign.

Looks like he wasn’t too concerned about the safety of the citizens.

  7. After the Holiday Hills shooting Bill Prim’s new campaign theme should be: When shit hits the fan who are YOU going to call: a cop or a lawyer?

When you vote for Sheriff vote for a cop not a lawyer.

  8. Nice to see a county board member with some guts.

I was called a “Priminal” yesterday.

    Yes – guilty as charged.

Bill Prim’s work history is head an shoulders above Harrison.

Here in Crystal Lake the Harrison signs are popping up in Prim supporter’s yards.

We do not need Harrison and his Gary Pack cronyism back in McHenry County.

We are about to take out the first load of trash on November 4th… let’s make sure that Harrison is ends up in junkyard.

Too many good people have worked way to hard.

Besides, the DH is a liberal rag – of course they endorsed the Democrat.

  9. Remember Zinke ? He lost too !

An endorsement from tha NW Herald is the Kiss of Death!

    Thanks to the Herald !

  10. This endorsement is from the Daily Herald, not the Northwest Herald.

  11. Ask the people of Des Plaines who they liked it when their Police Department was run by thugs.

The violation of basic civil liberties was not just tolerated but celebrated.

Prim did worse than nothing, he signed off on glowing evaluations of cops who beat helpless people.

This is why Prim is so scared to debate. He runs from his record not on it.

Hey Happy TT, it’s the Daily Herald, not the NW Herald that endorsed Jim.

  12. Now Harrison supporters are coming out with down right lies.

This is what we will see in the last weeks.

Yes, ask the officers who worked under Prim.

    The best leader around.

Yes, ask the many many upper agencies who Prim worked for and they all agree that Prim was the best.

Yes, ask the departments who contacted Prim for advice because of his excellent background and experience.

Harrison and his supporters, you can’t change the facts no matter how hard you try.

    Vote Prim

  13. Like McHenry v said:

Do you want to be SAFE or SORRY

Vote Prim for a positive future, a man who is dedicated to serve the County.

  14. From – the Daily Herald —

Prim, 55, of Cary, is a retired Des Plaines police commander whose 27-year law enforcement career saw him earn numerous commendations and awards.

Harrison, 56, of Johnsburg, served eight years as a McHenry County Sheriff’s deputy before resigning in 1989 to pursue a legal career.

He has significantly more policing experience, and laudable plans about improving morale within the department, boosting volunteerism, and creating a much-needed independent internal affairs office.

    THIS SAYS IT ALL!!

  15. I have never heard of a paper who gives an endorsement to the opponent and then writes the positive qualifications of Prim.

Do ya think whoever wrote the article knows that Prim is the one to vote for?

  16. Why does that quote remind me of propaganda that POWs are forced to read for cameras?

(And the photo is just chilling.)

  17. Maybe the daily herald was coerced into the endorsement.

    Wouldn’t be the first time.

Reading the glowing and truthful facts about Prim one thinks that it was a misprint — on the endorsement!

NWH’s front page 2 Sundays ago says it all:

    LAWMAN VS LAWYER.

I’ll take the lawman for my sheriff thank you.

  18. This is my opinion, as that is what this blog is:

Think about it,Harrison’s WHOLE campaign is about his qualifications as a lawyer.

If I was a lawyer I would naturally run for judge.

    That is the norm.

But really WHY is Harrison running to be Sheriff???

His employment in the Sheriff’s department was 25 years ago and for only 7 1/2 years.

He knows he does not have the proper qualifications.

    He’s smart right?

Well why not run for Sheriff and get all that free marketing by supporters& they pay for it ,he will be in parades and have meet & greets so he can tell everyone his lawyer qualifications to get business.

All that free press and all by the citizens who are fooled by him.

Not bad but of course this is only a theory and there may be no truth to what I have said, so you can judge my theory on your own.

    Vote Prim !!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Let’s talk about the”over billing”.

It is customary for an attorney from the State’s Attorney’s Office to have a lawyer present at the County Board Meetings.

Harrison should not have been on the clock at those meetings at all.

Went to many of them while Harrison sat there with State Attorney Gary Pack.

Gary Pack or a lawyer from his office was all we needed.

Yet, we paid Harrison to be there???

  20. PITY! The man was a Sheriffs officer 25 years ago and has 8 years experience.

In my opinion, he is not qualified to be a sheriff.

Hate to tell you Mr Jerry Springer Shock Jock, Jimmy babe, the days of the regime are over.

  21. I would rather have a lawman as Sheriff not a sleazy attorney that likes to rip off the tax payers of Mchenry COunty.

    Vote for William “Bill” Prim!

    Spread the word!

    Early voting starts tomorrow!!

  22. You people are ignoring the facts of the Daily Herald’s endorsement.

The Daily Herald stated that they have some concerns about the judgment Bill Prim showed in allowing two people with criminal records to have roles in his campaign.

They also stated that they are not sure whether Bill Prim’s close ties to the McHenry County state’s attorney will end years of needless political infighting or concentrate power in too few hands.

Granted that Mr. Harrison has far superior qualifications to serve as sheriff, but common sense would tell you that the Daily Herald could not endorse a problematic candidate that surrounds himself with violent criminals in his regime.

  23. But you ignore the Demodica employee of Harrison’s campaign.

Sounds like a typical Democrat, Harrison will point the finger and try to distract away from his own problematic employees in his campaign.

They are not volunteers, but employees of Harrison to run his campaign.

    That’s a big difference.

I’d rather have a Republican lawman than a Democrat Attorney running our Sheriff’s office.

By the way, who did Harrison vote for in 2008 and 2012 Obama?

  24. Shouldn’t a “lawman” obey laws? Prim failed to enforce the law and Des Plaines Police Department rules as an administrator.

Should a “lawman” have deep personal and campaign ties to violent, convicted criminals?
Should we ask the cops about the man who permiited them to get away with violence against helpless detainees or the citizens of Des Plaines who have lived for many years in fear of thug cops?

If Prim is such a great candidate why has he refused to debate, breaking his word to do so? Because he is afraid his record is a good guess.

All of this is documented public record, not lies or spin or out of context.

  25. The citizens of McHenry County spoke in when they kicked Zinke’s butt out of the race !

and now the citizens of McHenry County will do the same to Harrison.

Mr Bill Prim is clearly been the only “right choice ” for McHenry County Sheriffs Office.

A lot has changed in the past 25 years in Law Enforcement, and only Prim has stayed current with these times.

Vote Bill Prim as our next McHenry County Sheriff

  26. Eric, Prim is not connected to the Regime.

He hasn’t worked in McHenry County.. T

hat is slanderous and he should take you to the cleaners…..

Instead, of making false accusations, why don’t you go ask Mr Jerry Springer shock jock, Jim Harrison, about that famous land deal, for which he has produced no records for public disclosure.

Harrison is connected to Pack and Nygren and that is not acceptable.

Harrison’s campaign manager Tamara Demodica, has a history that brings many to question Harrisons ability to make simple decisions, for which he is not capable.

Remember, Ms ordinance violation, Tamara Demodica, is being sued by Bianchi for defamation..

Also, many of the Mistwood residents were grateful when the Demodicas were no longer allowed to manage the subdivision.

The have left a lot of angry people in their wake.

Oh and yes, she was arrested for disorderly conduct.

  27. Duncan, you are comparing an ordinance violation to Matt McNamara conviction for beating a women, dragging a woman around a parking lot by her hair, Mickey Schuch wearing a camouflage jacket and ski mask cutting the phone line to prevent the victim from calling the police armed with a Gerber buck knife attempting armed robbery to steal money from a homeowner that was at home with his wife and children, and Michael McCleary arrested for domestic battery and violation of an order of protection, when he was a Woodstock Police Officer?

You are so desperate that you are making an ass out of yourself.

Speaking of Demodica being sued by Bianchi for defamation, we all know that your fight with Fukoku on this blog was staged and directed by Lou Bianchi.

There was so much coverage by Cal and the newspaper and now nothing, not even a peep about this great so call slander lawsuit filed by Lou Bianchi.

It has been well over a year, whatever happened?

We should have all got our popcorn while we watch the great performance between you and Fukoku?

You and Bianchi almost had us all fooled, bravo, bravo!

  28. Eric Tamara Demodica is Harrisons campaign manager.

Matt Mcnamara and Schuch happened many years ago.

You do nothing but twist the facts.

We need your real name Eric so we can pull the skeletons out of your closet over your entire life time…lol…

From what I have been told there are a lot of them…

Tamara Demodica has made a complete fool out of herself, all while working for Zinke and now for you…

    Tamara’s transgressions are recent….

Harrison, also has a convicted felon, a DUI & reckless driving campaign contributors and more criminal charges for additional campaign contributors…

The real question is, who has the credentials and who is capable of doing the job on behalf of the people? THE ANSWER IS BILL PRIM who has no connections to the Regime…

SO go stuff it up your a…s Eric and go get a real job.

By the way, Lou Bianchi and I have never talked about this blog, so it is time for you to double your meds, as your paranoia appears to get worse by the day.

    Staged?

You are a real crackpot Eric!

You need a psychiatrist, no doubt.

Now, go make yourself an appointment.

As far as Bob Demodica the residents of Mistwood became so angry with him they campaigned to bring in a new board and vote him out as property manager.

Let’s see. he also ran an additional subdivision located off of McHenry Avenue in Crystal Lake.

I talked to the current board and they were not happy with Demodica either.

In my opinion, he passed out way too many fines and didn’t make the repairs that the residents asked him to make…

His office was collecting over 200K or more a year not including fines and the repairs were not being made on the town homes.

I am a firsthand witness to that Eric…

So far, I have not seen an accounting of the money.

Oh and by the way, Bob Demodica referred to Lou Bianchi as “MR CORRUPTION HIMSELF” and said Nygren was not corrupt.

He is friends with Keith Nygren…..

So, the Demodica’s are just laughable.

And, it’s time for both of them to shut their mouths.

I know for a fact, that Lou Bianchi was railroaded by the individuals that are corrupt and were accepting kickbacks and bribes.

When Lou Bianchi refused to play “Lets Make a Deal” because “The Price is Right” they retaliated.

Now Eric, go find your self some spa or something where you can rest and please make sure you take your meds.

  29. To all you Harrison supporters :

BILL PRIM WILL BE THE NEXT SHERIFF !

    Get used to it !

  30. Eric c. give up already, you and others were fooled by Harrison thinking that law enforcement experience isn’t important.

What do you guys like being a Sheriff is?

Harrison can go back to being a lawyer where he belongs.

Negative campaigns and mud slinging doesn’t work.

You need a candidate that has experience.
