Prim Runs Ad in NWH

Republican candidate for McHenry County Sheriff Bill Prim ran an ad that was placed on the upper right hand corner of page 5 of the Northwest Herald Sunday.

And, guess what?

The ad plays off the NWH’s headline of several weeks ago:  “Lawyer vs. Lawman.”

Prim Runs Ad in NWH — 37 Comments

  1. Harrison was a Deputy 25 years ago………he fell off that horse and never got back on !

Now it’s too late, being a Lawyer, learning Karate, and playing Piano, just doesn’t cut it !

Vote for Prim……..the EXPERIENCED one who will be a Great Sheriff !

Prim rode that horse for 27 yrs. and is still riding it……with his Cowboy Boots on !
    Ha-Yooooooooo…….

    VOTE PRIM

  2. Very honorable ad and so true.

With all of Mr. Prim’s experience and knowledge of how to lead a Sheriff’s department how could anyone vote for a person with only leading a small law office experience?

Some questions to ask yourself would be:

Why isn’t Harrison running for Judge which would reflect his attorney background?

This is suspicious to me. Was Harrison’s law practice failing?

Why would Harrison want to be the Sheriff when he was employed by the department 25 years ago.

Things change in all those years.

    Again that is suspicious.

Why is Harrison planning on programs that will increase our taxes?

Prim is looking to save the tax payers money while not sacrificing the effectiveness of the Sheriff’s department.

    Harrison is working backwards.

For Prim it is “WE” for Harrison it is ” I ”

Vote Prim on November 4 for a POSITIVE renewal in the department.

A man who stands by his Deputies and stands to serve the community.

  3. How in the world can a person even consider running for Sheriff with no current knowledge of law enforcement?

You might as well have asked your barber to run.

    They have the same experience.

Lets move ahead and bring honor back to the Sheriff’s department by voting for Bill Prim, a lawman, not an attorney.

The way Harrison talks the next thing you’ll hear is him wanting to get rid of the State’s Attorney’s Office. Good Lord……..

  4. This ad says it all!

    I’m voting for the lawman… If I need legal advice , I’ll call a lawyer !

  5. Not a bad ad… but not a good use of his pretty limited campaign funds.

  6. I’m glad you think you know who the committee was who paid for the ad and I’m glad you think you know about the amount of funds Prim has.
Harrison with all his goofy plans will up taxes in McHenry County.

  7. Money spent to tell the TRUTH is money well spent.

Harrison spent $9,425.25 to KNI Communications for campaign advice between 5/30/2014
    and 6/13/2014…..

KNI is a company that tells candidates how to deal with the media and the public…..it sounds more like manipulation to me…..

There slogan is…”KNI Communications Delivers Results-And Victories- For Its Clients”……..

In my opinion, Harrison spends over $9,000 to deceive the public…..why can’t he run on his own qualifications ?

I can imagine what he would spend if he was Sheriff !

    VOTE PRIM !!!!!! VOTE TRUTH!!!!!

  8. Sorry, Correction is $10,895.50 Harrison spent……..wow…..worse than I thought !

  9. If only Prim could have spent some money to have someone tell him not to surround himself with robbers, woman beaters and drunk drivers.

All that experience and not a lick of sense that such behavior doesn’t belong anywhere near the inside political base of a Sheriff’s campaign.

Yet is flock follow him like doe eyed Obama worshipers.

I mean you all can’t support such behavior just to root for your political “team”, can you?

  10. For Harrison spouting off about all the concern he has for the Sheriff’s department is beyond me when He never acknowledged the shooting of two officers and the incident.

That shows he doesn’t think much about the men and women who work to protect and serve the community.

If I were a deputy I sure wouldn’t want Harrison to be my leader !!!

All Harrison does is deceive the people with his side-way talk.

Lets find out how slick this slick lawyer thinks he is.

He is doing the Nygren shuffle.

  11. But seriously now: only a fool would suggest your argument makes any sense.

I’m pretty sure I know what people you are falsely accusing.

So our courts, judges and laws don’t matter?

Neither of those men are convicted of those things, but you know better don’t you?

You know better than the police department, states attorneys office and judge and jury?

Om another note let’s suppose someone had done something in their life they should not have, should that person cower for the remainder of their days, never engaging or moving beyond a fault? Should that person go live on an island?

    Scripture says sin is sin.

So drop your hand full of

  12. Chicago Tribune Endorsement for McHenry County Sheriff:

” The bare-knuckle brawling between State’s Attorney Lou Bianchi and Sheriff Keith Nygren is finally coming to an end. Nygren is retiring. The candidate Nygren favored to succeed him lost in the GOP primary. Now the race is between Republican Bill Prim of Cary, a retired Des Plaines police commander who had Bianchi’s support (and our endorsement) in the primary, and Jim Harrison of Johnsburg, a veteran attorney running as an independent. There is no Democratic candidate. Harrison, a former McHenry County sheriff’s deputy, has an impressive legal resume. He has also given great thought to how to run an office that is efficient and free of politics — in short, an office that focuses solely on crime and responding to citizens. After all the battling in law enforcement circles in McHenry, Harrison would be a welcome change and he is endorsed.”

  13. So Just Joe and all other Harrison supporters you run away from this question all the time.

Why does Harrison deceive the public and only tells half truths.

Why doesn’t he add the truth on about being a deputy 25 years ago?

Why didn’t Harrison acknowledge the incident where 2 officers got shot?

How do you deputies feel about Harrison not even caring about the men and women who risk their lives for the protection of the community?

How does it feel knowing that your potential Sheriff and leader doesn’t give 2 hoots about you or your safety?

Wouldn’t you love working for a man like that?

Voters this should be a wake up call.

If Harrison doesn’t care about his workers why would he care about the Sheriff’s department?

Really sad and some of you support him………very sad.

So lets see the Harrison supporters answer the questions

  14. o.k. just joe and Paul can you answer McHenry voters questions.

I would like to know the answers too.

  15. “Just Joe” Is that the resume Mr Jerry Springer shock jock, who likes to play cops and robbers, earned while on disability?

    Just asking.

That resume, by the way, means nothing when running our sheriffs department.

Gosh, that would be an awesome way to put the morale amongst our officers from the sheriffs department, down the drain with all of the cr…p!

    No thank you!

We want our officers to be guided by a true and honest leader like Bill Prim, whom by the way, does not spout out half truths like his opponent Jerry Springer.

By the way Jerry, when Bill Prim takes office, there will be no more popcorn, not even for the audience…

Poor Gordy, will just have to find another line of work.

Perhaps, he will become an expert at cleaning floors with a tooth brush.

Gee Gordy, they may even let you pick out your favorite color.

Now don’t you be thinking about picking the color green, for…… We all know that has gotten you no where in life.

    Cheers to the popcorn Gordy!

  16. I didn’t think I would get an answer from the Harrison supporters.

  17. The truth?

    You can’t handle the Truth.

Jim Harrison has 8 years experience as a McHenry County Deputy and 12 years as a McHenry CountySpecial Assistant States Attorney.

He has a degree in finance and has represented both law enforcement and citizens in police misconduct cases. Jim has protected the rights of everyday citizens.

He is ready to be Sheriff day one.

With only a high school diploma Bill Prim could not be hired as police chief in any town in the county.

He does not have the skills to manage a $32 million budget.

He has allowed police officers to beat helpless people and lie under oath.

He broke his promise to debate Jim, despite blasting Andy Zinke when he declined a debate.

He continues to convicted thugs to work at the highest level of his campaign and parades them around in public.

Voter, is that the answer you were looking for?

  18. Joe – according to public record, Harrison got donations from people with VERY INTERESTING backgrounds.

    Did not reject the money!!!

People withVERY CURRENTS ISSUES and a LONG line of them.

    People in glass houses —–

  19. the Trib endorsed Obama.

    How is that working???

    Another UNQUALIFIED candidate.

  20. **I’m glad you think you know who the committee was who paid for the ad and I’m glad you think you know about the amount of funds Prim has.**

Huh? WTF are you talking about?

You do know that it says, right on the ad, who the committee was who paid for the ad, right? And you also know that campaign finance reports are public, right?

I don’t really care about Prim or Harrison. I don’t like either of them.

  21. ** KNI is a company that tells candidates how to deal with the media and the public…..it sounds more like manipulation to me**

Sigh… none of you actually understand how campaigns work, do you?

Campaigns hire consultants all. the. time. It isn’t manipulation or deception.

Reading comments here gives me a headache.

  22. **Then Dave have a suggestion……. shut up**

    Very useful, insightful comment.

You’ve added much to the conversation.

  23. Dave, Bill Prim NEVER spent over $10,000 for a consulting firm……

I don’t think he wastes money like that…..

YOU know nothing about running a campaign …..

KNI is manipulation and throwing spins at a very high price !

  24. I think Harrison used his tips from his piano playing to pay for that book.

  25. **YOU know nothing about running a campaign**

    LOL – okay.

You don’t even know who I am, but you know about my experiences in campaigns.

    Got it.

Campaign consultants can be good, and they can be bad.

But good consultants are almost always worth the money.

  26. I thought the consulting firm helped provide the people to gather signatures to get Jim Harrison on the ballot.

  27. So, you think the main criteria to run a large county sheriff’s department is having been a police officer?

Let’s examine this; How many hospitals are run by doctors and staff?

How many corporations are run by production superintendents?

How many schools are run by teachers?

Very few, as leadership positions require a broad range of knowledge beyond a specific function or training.

Positions of leadership require expertise of someone with the education and experience to look at the big picture.

Mr. Harrison, as an attorney, has a substantial amount of education relating to the law and has the professionalism to consider the law when making management decisions for the Sheriff’s Department in McHenry County.

  28. and Harrison over billed the county over $16,000.00 so he knows a lot about finances.

No Cal ,the Democrats helped with getting the signatures.

KNI communications actually tell you how to run your campaign, different ways of winning etc.

  29. Guess what, the Sheriff’s department already has attorneys of its own.

  30. Ice

    Some managerial experience is needed.

Harrison has only managed a small law office.

Prim has managed a large number of staff with success.

  31. Facts –

    PRIM –

27 yrs of CURRENT law enforcement
    13 Honorable Mentions
3 U.S. Customs Certificates of Appreciation
Volunteers: Boy Scouts, Police Explorer, Shop With a Cop-Member of Board of Directors of Air One Emergency Coalition Helicopter Rescue Team, Illinois State Crime Commission appointment to represent McHenry County Heroin Initiative – on and on of continual law enforcement and community service for 27 years and beyond.

    Harrison

7 yrs 6 mos as a deputy 25 yrs ago
    Martial Arts Black Belt
Lawyer (How much conflict with clients he defended?)

Does not take a rocket scientist to see the Bill Prim is the best choice and would be very fortunate to have him.

Much different county than when Harrison was a young deputy.

ow much conflict with clients that he has defended?)

  32. back at you and james k you guys are right on.

Since Harrison doesn’t know about the Sheriff’s department or law enforcement how can he possibly be good at managing it?

As far as those black belts go.how old was he when he got those? By the looks of things that also was 25 years ago.

To run the Sheriff’s department we need Bill Prim who knows the ropes and will save tax payers unnecessary expenditures.

Prim is looking out for McHenry County as a whole.

    Vote Prim
