Here’s a letter from Nunda Township Republican Party Chairman Mike Shorten seeking volunteers on Thursday to pass out literature as commuter trains return to Crystal Lake:

We all know that this election is going to be close and we have a lot of important races that will be decided in a weeks time.

On behalf of McHenry County Republican Chairman Sandra Salgado, I’d like to encourage you to join us this Thursday evening between 4:30pm and 7:30pm to work the train stations across the county.

Since most train commuters leave early and arrive home after 5pm, we want to remind them that they can use early voting to vote over the upcoming weekend. A flier is being developed for you to use to give to commuters as they leave the trains that will highlight polling places, and out Republican candidates.

Please review the station lists and times and choose the slots that you would be available. To Sign Up, Click Here!

If you have a candidate shirt or a party shirt, please feel free to share your pride when you come out on Thursday.

  1. Hmmmmmmmm.

Did anybody ever check w/ an actual commuter about this????

The time to snag people is in the a.m. as they await the train …. plus they’ll read the literature (or at least look at it) on the way in.

The afternoon time, as people exit the train, is the worst time …. everybody’s rushin’ to get home ……. plus it’s hard to even hand out literature as the crowd quickly scatters in all directions to get to their cars……..

    Well, live and learn GOPers…….

  2. I know for a fact that the GOP is already working the train stations in the morning.

This is just an additional boost for Thursday afternoon to help get the vote out.

Our Republican Party here in Mchenry County is doing great things to help improve voter turnout.
