The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois Department of Transportation teamed up during the period of November 17 – 30, 2014, for a successful Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization.

IDOT supported enforcement to remind motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired, both day and night, during the merged Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers.

During the mobilization, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office issued:

  • 28 seat belt citations
  • 4 child car seat citations
  • 3 DUI arrests
  • 2 suspended/revoked licenses arrests
  • 5 No valid driver’s licenses arrests
  • 12 uninsured motorists citations
  • 38 speeding citations
  • 1 drug arrest

The annual Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in McHenry County, but that is no excuse to stop using your seat belt. “Our officers are out all year long. If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the safety violation,” stated Sheriff Bill Prim.
