One might think that Governor Pat Quinn would appoint the Democratic Party’s candidate for State Treasurer to replace Judy Baar Topinka.
But Sheila Simon, the candidate who lost to Topinka, is Quinn’s Lt. Governor and refused to run for re-election with him.
Instead Paul Vallas was Quinn’s running mate.
Vallas, whom I knew when he headed the Illinois Economic and Fiscal Commission, certainly has qualifications for the job.
I’m betting that Quinn selects Vallas over Simon.
