Boatload of Charges in 1.5 CL Kilogram Cocaine Bust

Crystal Lake Police Seize Approximately 1.5 Kilograms of Cocaine

On Friday evening, December 12th, 2014, subsequent to a narcotics investigation, officers of the Crystal Lake Police Department’s Targeted Response Unit, assisted by the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at 598 Chardonnay Lane, Crystal Lake.

During the search, officers recovered and secured suspected cocaine, suspected prescription medications, suspected cannabis, and items of drug paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation, residents Aquiles T. Rangel (47) and De Victoria Rangel-Cortes (40) were arrested.

  • Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver more than 900 grams of cocaine- 720 ILCS 570.0/401(a)(2)(D), a Class X Felony
  • Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance within 1000 feet of a School (cocaine)- 720 ILCS 570.0/407(b)(1), a Class X Felony
  • Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (cocaine)- 720 ILCS 570.0/402(a)(2)(D), a Class 1 Felony
  • Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (cocaine)- 720 ILCS 570.0/401(c)(2), a Class 1 Felony
  • Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (cocaine)- 720 ILCS 570.0/402(c), a Class 4 Felony

Both subjects were transported to the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock forconfinement, where both currently remain, with an assigned bond of $100,000 each.

The investigation into this matter continues and more charges may be forthcoming.

    Happy to see that Zinke no long is in the Sheriff’s Office and did not call and warn them.
