“I helped orchestrate a complete changeover in all staff department managers which has led to the culture change I was seeking,” said Kaplan.

“I have encouraged the Board and staff to put pieces in place to compete in the arena of economic development and enormous progress has been made.

“I am perfectly content to let someone else carry the ball.

“I never intended to make a career out of this position.

“My priorities are now with my son, Jacob, who is fighting a life threatening illness, and my busy real estate career.

“Mark Kownick, the Mayor, has his head on straight and has the best interests of the town and residents at heart. Village staff is top notch.

“This has been a great experience and one I would encourage others to pursue public service.

“I want to thank all who supported me in my run for Trustee and Mayor.”

Kaplan ran against Kownick for Village President.
