CL Police “Enhanced Enforcement” Results for Thanksgiving

Reading the comments on the Crystal Lake Police Department’s announcement of enhanced enforcement for the weeks around Christmas, I remembered that have not yet posted the department’s press release of what it did around Thanksgiving.

That information is below:

The Crystal Lake Police Department has Completed the 2014 “Thanksgiving Holiday Crackdown to Save Lives”

The Crystal Lake Police Department recently completed its participation in the Illinois

Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program conducted for the Thanksgiving holiday. Over 200 law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in thisstatewide effort from November 17th through November 30th to save lives by encouraging motorists to refrain from drinking and driving and to buckle up during late-night hours.

  1. So it looks like Crystal Lake P.D., like so many other departments, sucked up a lot of State dollars, funded by the Feds, for just doing their job.

“Enhanced” enforcement netted only two (2) alcohol-related tickets.

I don’t have any problem with cops’ writing traffic tickets, but what do they normally do when not sucking at the Federal trough?

If I recall correctly, Woodstock PD wrote only two alcohol-related traffic tickets during its own “enhanced” enforcement effort over Thanksgiving.

The “Enhanced” programs are just a rip-off because the People have stopped watching what is going on.

  2. No kidding, Gus.

Besides all the other reasons they should not be “drumming up business” by making us all victims.

  3. So Gus, the speeders pose no risk to the motoring public?

Aren’t you the same blogger who ran entries on your own blog espousing how bad speeding is? or have you changed your position?

I’ll admit, I no great love for seat belt laws, but DUI, speeding and distracted driving (cell phone use) all increase the risk of accidents as well as fatalities and, more importantly, are easily preventable!

This dastardly government intrusion is the result of violators being caught (with the exception of seat belts) violating traffic laws, plain and simple.

  4. Cal, I think we sold those Crown Vics long ago..think we have sold another fleet since then…but hey…why not?

  5. The Crown Vics were awesome.

I had one for fifteen years.

It served me well. (Plus everybody thought we were undercover and gave us leeway.)

  6. I take strong objection to: “unded by the Feds”.

It is this type of statement that makes people believe there is such a thing as “Obama dollars”.

    IT IS ALL TAXPAYER MONEY!!!!

  7. Interesting observation: The taxpayers fund ‘enforcement’ programs as per above while legalizing the consumption of marijuana which is mostly consumed via smoking which causes cancer.

BTW, marijuana consumption is against federal law just like being here illegally is against the law but we live in a ‘sanctuary’ state.

We sure know how to waste taxpayer dollars!!

  8. This is precisely what I mean about scientists.

    Smoking DOES NOT cause cancer.

Just repeating lies and more damn lies does not make it true.

  9. Correct. The money comes from us taxpayers.

It is funneled through the Illinois Department of Transportation.

  10. The photo was taken the day the Virginia Street TIF District was dedicated.

  11. Cindy, tell us you’re kidding?

    Smoking doesn’t cause cancer?

Sometimes I forget how funny you are…
