Roskam Goes After Obamacare 30-Hour Rule

A message from Congressman Peter Roskam:

Roskam: Time to Restore the 40-Hour Workweek

WASHINGTON, DC–Today, Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) spoke on the House floor in support of H.R. 30, the Save American Workers Act, which will restore the traditional 40-hour workweek eliminated by Obamacare [which required health insurance for all those working 30 hours per week] in order to boost wages for American families and help small businesses grow and prosper. The bipartisan legislation passed the House 252-172 and will now be considered by the Senate for final passage.

“This bill is to lift a burden off of people who find themselves not served by a law that they were told would serve them  They were told, ‘Oh this is going to be great, there’s going to be no adverse effect on your job opportunities, it’s all going to be terrific, just sign up for it’…But that wasn’t working out for people at the lower end of the spectrum…So what this bill does is lift a burden. It says we’re not going to create downward pressure on jobs, instead we’re going to create an environment where jobs are more buoyant, more abundant, and there are more of them.”
