Scott Summers for MCC Trustee — 2 Comments

  1. This guy chases elected positions like lawyers chase ambulances.

If you quit an elected position, why wouldn’t you quit again?

  2. He seems to be cost conscious and thinking out of the box.

The delivery method of education is ripe for change with most labor costs for public education outpacing inflation be they construction, teachers, administrators, etc.

They days of 300 people sitting in an auditorium listening to a boring instructor should be history.

Not saying there are any such classes at MCC.

Technology now enables many more options.

For instance, in the selected circumstances and after a succesul pilot, record the best instructors and deliver via YouTube aka Kahn Academy, the student watches that before class, and transform the classroom into a more interactive environment instead of a lecture environment.

Obviously that doesn’t work for all classes but the government monopoly colleges and monopoly unions are not delivering enough value or transforming themselves quickly enough.

With that said community colleges can save students a bundle of money over attending the first two years at a four year institution but be sure to select your 4 year college if possible before attending community college to be sure the courses transfer and go through that process every semester since it’s often not simple to figure out what credits will transfer and which will not.
