A press release from the Crystal Lake Fire Department:
Fire Damage from Controlled Burn, Wheatland Drive, Crystal Lake
The fire was bad enough to make Chicago radio and television news where it was reported that the siding of several houses melted.
WGN thought the story important enough to send a helicopter crew, plus an on-scene reporter for its 9 o’clock news.
At 1:48 this afternoon, the Crystal Lake Police advised,
“Please be aware that Huntley Road is closed from Barlina Road to Ackman Road due to a large controlled burn.
“It will remain closed for approximately 2 to 3 hours.”
Last week a similar burn got out of control Lakewood.
All reports say a contractor but fail to name the contract or the entity the contractor was working for, has anyone heard who those parties are?
I sure wouldn’t have hired anyone but the fire dept.
