Prim Pleased with Conviction

A press release from McHenry County Sheriff Bill Prim concerning the conviction of Holiday Hills shooter Scott Peters:

Sheriff Bill Prim’s media statement regarding the events of October 16, 2014

If ever someone can truly state that justice was served, it was served today.

I thank the ladies and gentlemen of the jury in particular for their service this week, and commend all the other participants in the criminal justice system for their work on this case.

The defendant received his day in court before a jury of his peers.

He had the opportunity to present his side of last October’s events and that is the way the system is supposed to work. But we now have a verdict and in my opinion the absolutely correct one.

It is in times like these that we should reflect that peace and order in our community doesn’t come without its price. Deputies Maness and Satkiewicz, and their families, will for the rest of their lives be paying that price.

In our county, in our state, and in our nation we are very fortunate to have police officers and other first responders who go to work knowing that they may face something similar.

And they do it every day.

That is why I am so proud of these dedicated men and women.

Finally, I want to commend the community at large for their continuing support of our two deputies and their families.

It’s good to know that the people we serve and protect will rally around us when the situation calls for it.
