U.S. Chamber Recognizes Hultgren with Spirit of Enterprise Award

US C of C logoWashington, DC — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has awarded U.S. Representative Randy Hultgren (IL-14) with its annual Spirit of Enterprise Award, recognizing his efforts to promote pro-jobs and pro-growth policies during the second session of the 113th Congress.

“For 50 years, the U.S. Chamber has been recognizing legislators from both sides of the aisle who have worked to pass legislation and enact policies that bolster our country’s economy, create jobs and keep our nation’s spirit of enterprise alive,” said U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue. “The Spirit of Enterprise award honors those members of Congress like Congressman Randy Hultgren (IL-14) who has recognized the need and shown a commitment to pro-growth policies in the second session of the 113th Congress.”

“American families continue to struggle in a still uncertain job market, and incomes are not keeping up. Suffocating businesses with bad policies only exacerbates this problem,” said Rep. Hultgren. “Now more than ever, we need to implement policies that create space for businesses to flourish and hire more workers. I am humbled to receive this award and hope that President Obama will take up legislation passed by the House and Senate that will get Americans back to work.”

The Chamber’s prestigious Spirit of Enterprise Award is given annually to members of Congress based on their votes on critical business legislation outlined in the Chamber publication, How They Voted. Members who supported the Chamber’s position on at least 70% of those votes qualify to receive the award.

According to this year’s scorecard, Hultgren received a 79% rating with the Chamber in 2014 and has a cumulative rating of 88% during his tenure in Congress.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
