MCCD Appointee — 6 Comments

  1. He will represent horse owners but will he represent the taxpayers?

  2. He was the only one who applied and the deadline to fill the position is Monday so we had nothing to choose from.

He is very knowlegable about the workings of the MCCD having attended most of the meetings for several years.

If people want the taxpayers better represented on the MCCD Board they have to get off of their duffs and apply.

They should also start attending meetings regularly.

The next opportunity, baring any resignations before then, is next year.

Our past nods have gone to those who put in the time either going to meetings or doing volunteer work or both.

  3. Given this situation Mike, would it not be a good idea to advertise the opening and push back the selection date?

I realize nobody got off their duffs to apply.

This man did so I give him great credit.

That being said, I have to ask the question out of my own ignorance to the posting for this position, “Was this position properly posted, and, for what period of time was it posted.

It’s concerning when the tax payers do not have a ‘choice’ on who gets a job, especially a job that is connected to politics.

The MCCD is in great need of a watchdog.

This agency has a serious lack of oversight.

I will leave it at that for now.

    Thank you.

  4. There are those who lobby for a reduction in units of government.

Are they the same people who are working to ensure we keep a quasi-independent Conservation District which insists on wasting taxpayer dollars on its own police force?

What do the conservation police contribute to conservation?

All I see is them contributing to air pollution driving their motor bikes and suv’s!!

A total waste of my tax dollars which could be better used to offset the expense of educating some children or fix a bridge!
