Transparency Seminar Scheduled

The Lakewood Village packet distributed by Trustee Paul Serwatka reveals that the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office is holding a seminar to let elected officials know the state of the law for the Open Meetings Act, Freedom of Information Act, ethics and maybe even what to put in a whistle blower ordinance, if someone asks.

Bianchi open meetingzs FOIA 6-11-15Leah Bartelt, an Assistant Attorney General from the Illinois AG’s Office, will present on FOIA and Jana Blake will present OMA and do a brief overview of public official ethics.

It’s a free seminar on local government transparency and ethics on Thursday, June 11, at McHenry County College from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

  1. The egos of our local politicians / elected officials won’t accept the law unless it is shoved down their throats and is personally costly to them.

    Seminars are nice, putting teeth in the law is even better.

  2. I wonder if Schofield, Skala, the Millers, Hill, Provenzano, Koehler and Jung will attend?

    They have all made comments or been involved in an activity which indicates to me they need more ‘training’.
