Milk Day Politics

Harvard’s Milk Day Parade was Saturday.

The crowd was larger than last year.

Congressman Randy Hultgren was in the Milk Day Parade.

Congressman Randy Hultgren was in the Milk Day Parade.

There were only two political entries, I’m told.

Congressman Randy Hultgren marched behind his banner.

Congressman Randy Hultgren marched behind his banner.

The first was for Congressman Randy Hultgren.

A better view of the marchers.

A view of the marchers on a residential street.

My source not see any other Republican presence.

Immediately behind was the second political entry–State Rep. Jack Franks.

The Democrat managed to create about a fifteen minute gap in the parade.

If any reader got a photo of Franks, please email it and I’ll post it.

  1. Additional elected officials present was McHenry County Board members Tina Hill and Sue Draffkorn and the McHenry Regional Superintendent of Education Leslie Schermerhorn.

  2. Question to Picaro’s travel:

The names you mentioned where present where, other than with the dignitaries in the ‘fly-by’?

Hultgren participated in the ‘dignitary fly-by’ before the parade starts and then joined his contingent part-way through.

Franks no longer participates in the ‘dignitary fly-by’ to ensure he can walk the entire parade route.

Other political types were also present at the ‘brunch’ before the parade.

  3. Question to “con on”:

People has been riding in cars during the parade for years.

So what do you mean with “fly-by”?

I am glad to see that any of the elected officials showed up for this old time parade, considering that 11.9%
of the voters drag the sorry …. to the voting both and took part in the election in April.

By the way “con on” did you vote ?,

or are one of these babbler that sits in front of the computer like “dum-dum Duncan McHenry”

and have opinion about anything and everything.

  4. In response to Picaro’s travel: “People has been riding in cars during the parade for years. ” Those ‘has been’ flying by the crowd for years and the crowd frankly appears to not care much. Why do you think Jack Franks does not bother participating in the fly-by?
Why bother voting when most of the candidates end up doing what unions and other special interests or the governmental unit staff dictate?
Attend some committee / government unit meetings and you will quickly find out that practically ALL agenda items originate with staff.

  5. Extra! Extra!

    Read All About It!

There is a shortage of french fries in McHenry County.

Fukoku, is not the only one who is two french fries short of a Happy Meal.

“Picaro’s travel,” get going and go find your french fries.

While you are at it, you might want to ask Nygren to hand them over.

Gosh, didn’t know, walruses like popcorn and french fries too.

Oh well, gotta maintain all that fat, Mr. Walrus, so your’e happy.

  6. The operative word in this quasi discussion is Internet Trolls.

    According to Psychology Today

In this month’s issue of Personality and Individual Differences, a study was published that confirms what we all suspected: Internet trolls are horrible people.

Let’s start by getting our definitions straight:

An Internet troll is someone who comes into a discussion and posts comments designed to upset or disrupt the conversation. Often, in fact, it seems like there is no real purpose behind their comments except to upset everyone else involved. Trolls will lie, exaggerate, and offend to get a response.

What kind of person would do this? Some Canadian researchers decided to find out.

They conducted two online studies with over 1,200 people, giving personality tests to each subject along with a survey about their Internet commenting behavior.

They were looking for evidence that linked trolling with the “Dark Tetrad” of personality traits:

    1 – narcissism,

    2 – Machiavellianism,

    3 – psychopathy, and

    4 – sadism.

They found that Dark Tetrad scores were highest among people who said trolling was their favorite Internet activity.

Trolls truly enjoy making you feel bad.

To quote the authors once more (because this is a truly quotable article):

“Both trolls and sadists feel sadistic glee at the distress of others. Sadists just want to have fun … and the Internet is their playground!”

The next time you encounter a troll online, remember:

    1. These trolls are some truly difficult people.

    2. It is your suffering that brings them pleasure, so the best thing you can do is ignore them.

    Anything else?
