Ex-MCC President Walt Packard and his golden parachute.

Spurred by the outrageous Golden Parachute given by the outgoing Trustees to the outgoing College of DuPage President, the Illinois General Assembly has sent a bill limited such rewards to one year’s salary.

Ex- President Walt Packard’s Golden Parachute came into play when State Rep. Mike Tryon spoke in favor of the bill, according ot Friday’s Chicago Tribune.

“I hope this never happens to any community college in any other part of the state,” he said.

Jumping off the page was this sentence:

It also would limit standard contracts to four years and require public notice and approval of any new, amended or renewed employment deals. [Emphasis added.]

Wouldn’t it be something if such a requirement were enacted concerning teacher contracts?

Now they very, very rarely are made public before they are approved by both the teachers’ union and the school board.

  1. “…It also would limit standard contracts to four years and require public notice and approval of any new, amended or renewed employment deals. [Emphasis added.]

Wouldn’t it be something if such a requirement were enacted concerning teacher contracts?…”

What about applying this to the parasitic Legislature?

Doesn’t seem right that a tick that never earned more than $50,000/year from the state(and last worked for the state 15 years ago) is collecting $79,000/year for its pension.

  2. Also why wasn’t this investigated more when MCC was giving this out while treating older employees badly.

  3. Great idea, also end the one time tax reprieve at 65 that allows people to skip out on the bill of life.
