Drug Induced Homicide Arrest

A Crystal Lake man has been charged with drug induced homicide in the death of a 29-year-old McHenry woman after a nearly four-month investigation produced evidence sufficient to charge.

On April 4, 2015, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 3100 block of W. Lincoln Road, McHenry, Illinois for a death investigation.

Shortly after deputies arrived, the scene was turned over to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force (which includes Lake in the Hills Police Department).

Detectives recovered evidence indicating the victim, a 29-year-old woman, may have ingested heroin prior to her death. During the investigation, detectives determined that Herman B. Trigg had allegedly supplied heroin to the victim.

On April 6, 2015, detectives arrested Trigg during a sting operation near the deceased woman’s residence and found 1.2 grams of heroin and 0.6 grams of cannabis in his possession.

On that date, he was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (class 4), Unlawful
Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (class 2), Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (class C), and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver (class B).

Following that arrest, detectives worked closely with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office and the McHenry County Coroner and obtained an arrest warrant for Trigg for Drug

300 block of Ambassador Ln., Crystal Lake

This appears to be the new housing development next to the Crystal Lake Post Office.

On July 24, 2015, members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force and Crystal Lake Police Department took Herman B. Trigg into custody without incident at his residence in the 300 block of Ambassador Ln., Crystal Lake, Illinois.
