Political, Governmental & Religious Booths at the County Fair – Part 1

Took a trip to the McHenry County Fair Wednesday afternoon looking for things political.

Of course, the Fair itself is a political entity–one that tried to banish Pro-Life and religious entries to a “Faith Tent,” but more on that later.

The first booth I found was that of the McHenry County Democratic Party.

Marti Swanson, a Democratic Party Precinct Committeeman from Ringwood and an active member of the Retired Teachers Association, tried to sign me up as a volunteer. I told her she would be disappointed if I were called.

As a turned the corner, I saw the double wide booth of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department.

Later the Department’s bloodhound was brought out.

Volunteer Hank Prim was finger printing children.

In the corner was the finger printing service offered by the Sheriff’s Department.

I looked left and there was the Republican Party booth. There was a slide show, but State Rep. David McSweeney and State Senator Dan Duffy weren’t mentioned.

McHenry County Board member Nick Provenzano and Lu Pierce were at the Republican Party's booth.

Next door were two religious booths, one for The Gideons International and the other for the Christian Scientists.

A man at the Gideons told me that his organization had protested the effort to move them to the “Faith Tent.”

Across the aisle was the Veterans Assistance Commission booth.

The Veterans Assistance Commission was offering services.

The McHenry County Citizens for Choice was just down the way.

"We support Planned Parenthood," read stickers on some of those who had been at the booth.

All of these displays were in the air conditioned building.

Political, Governmental & Religious Booths at the County Fair – Part 1 — 3 Comments

  1. The new banner is a definite improvement compared to last year!

  2. Makes my stomach turn just seeing this and knowing that McHenry County is allowing this at the County Fair.

It’s not about the freedom of choice, it’s the body selling parts that is illegal

  3. Those articles were BEFORE the news was out about breaking the law with selling baby parts.

There now should be now problem from pulling them , they broke the law
