A 65-year-old Marengo man was pronounced dead at the hospital Friday after the vehicle he was driving crashed in the 7000 block of Maple Street in unincorporated Marengo.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the 65-year-old’s 2003 Dodge truck was traveling southbound on Maple St when it exited the roadway to the east, then returned to the roadway, and again exited the roadway to the east causing the vehicle to roll over.

The driver and sole occupant of the Dodge, Michael Meyerhoff, was transported by ambulance to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock and later flown by helicopter to St. Anthony’s in Rockford, where he later died.

He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

There was no airbag deployment.

An investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit and the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office. Members of the Marengo Fire Protection District assisted at the scene.
