A press release from the McHenry County Board seeking applicants for the entire Regional Planning Commission.

That’s because the County Board called for the plan to be reviewed every five years and it was adopted in 2010.

The County seeks two citizen-applicants–one from east of Route 47 and one from west of that highway that pretty much splits the county in half.

The McHenry County Board is accepting applications from individuals interested in appointment to an ad hoc McHenry County Regional Planning Commission.

The purpose of the Regional Planning Commission is to review the 2030 Comprehensive Plan and to recommended possible revisions for consideration by the McHenry County Board.

The Regional Planning Commission will be comprised of

• the Chairman of the County Board Planning and Development Committee
• two members of the Zoning Board of Appeals
• one resident residing west of Rt. 47
• one resident residing east of Rt. 47

The Director of Planning and Development will serve as an ex-officio member of the Regional Planning Commission. Terms expire on November 30, 2016, or as soon thereafter as the Commission’s recommendations are completed.

The Regional Planning Commission is charged with reviewing implementation of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan, reviewing land use and population trends, identifying any problems with the 2030 Comprehensive Plan that need to be addressed, and recommending  possible revisions to the Plan for consideration by the County Board. In accomplishing these tasks,

The Regional Planning Commission will consider other recently-adopted County plans and reports, including the 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan, Green Infrastructure Plan and the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy.

The Regional Planning Commission will begin conducting regular meetings in January 2016 at dates and times to be determined by the members.

The Regional Planning Commission will submit its recommendations to the County Board by November 30, 2016, or as soon as practical thereafter.

Completed applications should be returned to the County Board office no later than 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015. If mailing your application, certified or registered mail is recommended. The McHenry County Board Planning and Development Committee will interview applicants in November 2015 and the County Board will make the appointments in December 2015.
