Hemphill is a great fit for Immanuel because of his holistic view of live and his sense of purpose. He brings a wide variety of talents that include composition, musician, a remarkably wide vocal range and the ability to connect people to a larger vision.

Early exposure to varying musical genres and insatiable need for expression led him to Millikin University in Decatur, IL where he developed a love for music production and recording. Jay has held positions like Director of Contemporary Worship Arts and Music Coordinator but has furthered his interest well beyond vocation to develop his band, “The Elevate Project.“

“Music is the language that resonates with people, it makes God’s word real,” says Rev. Dr. Larry Tieman, Senior Pastor at Immanuel.

“We have a very talented volunteer team of gifted musicians, and now we are blessed even more to have Jay’s perspective, energy and leadership to really bring things together.”

Celebration Sunday is open to the community at no charge. The event is observed each year in the fall as the people of Immanuel give thanks for all that God has done though out the previous year.

In addition to Jay’s debut, the day’s activities include Lunch, Funnel cakes, children’s activities, a petting zoo, baggo tournament, prizes and many other family friendly activities.
