Elgin Police called because of violations of the Open Meetings Act.

The police got called because the Board was breaking the Open Meetings Act by not posting agendas on the building where the meeting was being held.

You might find their article of interest.

And, you might find the other item they charge is illegal:

The issues with these meetings

  • Meetings not properly posted
  •  Disallowing public comment at the 5:15 meeting
  • School Board Members that according to the Illinois School Cod “shall work without compensation” – receiving catered meals at these meetings, twice a month, at taxpayer expense, in violation of law
  •  School Board Members voting to keep a fellow board member from listening to closed session audio recordings that they didn’t want anyone listening to – WHILE AT THE SAME TIME  voting to allow listening of closed session audio recordings of other meetings

What about the eats hidden behind closed doors for the Trustees and staff to eat?

  1. MCC has been so called cheating for many years under Packard and now Smith.

  2. Good Grief – yet another example of education boards pulling or trying to pull a fast one on the voters who pay for their existence. Don’t you wonder what is in that particular meeting audio?

    Dear voters, get the point?

  3. Just curious because I really don’t know, can the police require a meeting such as this to end?

What litmus test must be passed at the time of arrival?

  4. Let’s all just take a look at a Mike Smith’s comments regarding the consultant recommendations re. expansion. Do the facts push for expansion!? He doesn’t make that case does he? Pretty much of a non meaning statement to me.
The student trustee is out of touch with reality.

    Watch out folks.

  5. Edgar County Watchdogs belong in the Taxpayers Hall of Fame.

And the Transparency Hall of Fame.

And the Open Meetings Act Hall of Fame.

Edgar County Watchdogs have called the police to other public meetings.

  6. Do we call the police on everything?

    Leave them alone ….

Small wonder violent crime rates are rising.
