Sheriff Looking for New Deputies — 10 Comments

  1. Shouldn’t a college degree be required for this job?

Lots of higher level thinking required in order to make good decisions on the job.

  2. So a starting sheriff’s deputy makes more WITHOUT ANY HIGHER EDUCATION than an experienced teacher with a master’s degree?

I can very clearly see what our county (and country) values, and it isn’t educating our children.

  3. Really and Cindy, college graduates don’t necessarily have high iq’s or possess higher level thinking.

Look at MIssou, or any other liberal college campus.

The college students still wear diapers and want it all free.

You really need to sharpen up your own minds.

  4. I don’t think someone with a GED who couldn’t get through regular high school should have police powers.

Most law enforcement jobs require a college education.

Not sure why MCS would accept less educated deputies.

  5. So the obvious question: What level of arrests and convictions record around what type of crimes is set as the qualifier mark to be hired into a Law Enforcement position at the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department?

How many DUI and violent incident arrests can a applicant have and still be considered a top candidate?

  6. The Sheriff himself doesn’t have a college degree so why would his deputies?

  7. Unless we’re planning on invading Lake County, why are they hiring more cops for a decreasing populace?

  8. Well the population of home-owning, tax paying folks is decreasing.

The population of low income housing/people on the govt. dole is increasing.

Perhaps there’s more crime with the influx of those coming in.
