  1. Turnout at these forums may be an indicator of primary turnout.

Each election turnout has been lower and lower.

Part of the reason is the format and the lack of respect for the League.

  2. Sadly, nothing is learned at the League forums, and it’s their own fault.

The organization is nationally respected and so candidates show up.

That means they have the opportunity to ask pointed and substantial questions.

But here at the local level they actively refuse to ask such questions and lob softballs, so nothing is learned by the public.

Even sadder, what the League does is more than what our local newspaper does.

    Which gives me an idea:

Hey, Cal, why don’t YOU send out a questionnaire to each candidate, with important questions for ALL the candidates?

I know I would not only be influenced by their responses, but especially by those who fail to respond.

  3. Historically, the LWV (Or Left Wing Vultures) run a forum designed to support the government backed candidates.

Usually, no uncommitted voters show up, but government employee goons will be there to attack anyone not selected by the bosses.

The Northwest Herald will then report these attacks as community input.

  4. Pre-selected questions designed to make their handpicked candidates shine and/or embarrass their opposition.

  5. Lots of whining about one of the only organizations that puts on candidate forums.

I swear… someone could hand all of the commenters on this blog a million dollars each and ya’ll would still think you were victims.

  6. As an attendee to their forums I know they don’t ask questions submitted by the audience members!

If we show up to your forums and ask a question, it must be important!!!

ASK THE QUESTIONS or forever be known as a lame and biased organization.

Cal, the questionnaire is a great idea!

We look to you for the news more than the Northwest Horror of a newspaper.

    Journalism is dead there!

  7. OR have the candidates turn their NW Horror or Daily Horror questionnaire content into you for your subscribers to view.
