Steve Reick Calls Out Northwest Herald

Republican State Rep. candidate Steve Reick, seeking to run against Jack Franks again despite a Franks’ ally having filed in the GOP primary, had a similar reaction to my own to the Northwest Herald’s Friday editorial.

The editorial called on the Illinois House to change its rules so that ordinary members might have something to say.

Reick points out that the editorial did not mention one of House Speaker Mike Madigan’s enablers–our own Democrat, Jack Franks.

The headline on his Illoyances‘ article is

A yard sign from Steve Reick's campaign linking Jack Franks to Mike Madigan.

A yard sign from Steve Reick’s last campaign linking Jack Franks to Mike Madigan.

Once Again, the Herald Fails to Connect the Dots Between Jack Franks and Mike Madigan

Here’s how his commentary starts:

For 9 terms, Jack Franks has made the same 2 votes at the beginning of each session:

  1. A “yes” vote to install Mike Madigan as Speaker
  2. A “yes” vote to adopt the Rules of the Illinois House

These are the only 2 votes that Madigan cares about, because these are the only 2 votes in any session that really matter. After that, Jack’s pretty much free to go his merry way.

He nails the subject.

  1. I really can’t wait until the rotten Herald folds up … it won’t be long now.

Q: Does anybody still read that bird cage rag?

  2. Could it be that the approach is the wrong approach.

Certainly, the Madigan association attack failed in the last election.

it very well may be what the people who voted for him last time liked but those people aren’t going to vote fore Jack anyway.

Steve needs to reach the other voters out there.

How about if Steve says something like: This is how I can do it better than Jack and here is how I intend to do a better job than Jack.

If Steve contemplated such a position I think he might have a shot in this campaign.

However, doing the same thing and expecting a different result is not prudent or intelligent.
