New Poll Shows Dan McConchie with 10 Point Lead in 26th Senate District Race; Rolls Out Five New Endorsements from Conservative Legislators

HAWTHORN WOODS, February 19, 2016 – A new poll conducted by We Ask America shows Dan McConchie with a strong 10-point lead in the race to succeed Senator Dan Duffy in the 26th Senate District.

Poll results released by Dan McConchie.

Poll results released by Dan McConchie.  Casey Urlacher is in second place. About 30% appear to be undecided.

At the same time, McConchie rolled out five new endorsements from conservative legislators who say they want McConchie to join their team.

The poll shows McConchie at 30.63% with the other candidates at 20.75% and 18.58%. The crosstabs show McConchie leading across all demographics.

Additionally, McConchie released five new endorsements from conservative legislators – Randy Frese, Sheri Jesiel, Margo McDermed, Grant Wehril and Keith Wheeler – bringing the total number of endorsements by conservative legislators to fourteen.

“The overwhelming support across the 26th Senate District and from our conservative state leaders is humbling,” said Dan McConchie.

“It is clear that my lifelong conservative values, 20-year record of conservative policy solutions, and vision for a new Illinois is connecting both with voters and those leaders who are going to be part of the solution to get our state back on track.”

The Daily Herald stated in an editorial last week, “McConchie is well-spoken and well-versed on the financial issues. [Martin] McLaughlin does not have the conservative credentials of Dan McConchie, [Senator Dan] Duffy’s choice to succeed him.”

Current legislative leaders endorsing Dan McConchie are:

SENATE

  • Dan Duffy
  • Michael Connelly
  • Kyle McCarter
  • Jim Oberweis

  • Jeanne Ives
  • Mark Batinick

McConchie Poll Shows Him Leading Two Opponents by 10 Percentage Points — 7 Comments

  1. Yeah, interesting results, but I guess McConchie isn’t too good at math.

    30.63% + 20.75% + 18.58% doesn’t equal 100%.

He’s missing the other 30.04% which we would have to assume are undecided voters…

Combine that with the margin of error, and it’s anyone’s race.

So much for the brilliant statistical skills of the guy that wants to solve Springfield’s financial crisis.

I continue to be turned off by McConchie and his team. Smear campaigns and half-truths don’t win the minds of smart voters.

    Martin McLaughlin gets our vote.

  2. Daley Herald endorsed Martin McLaughlin.

    This poll is misleading.

I wonder if it was done by the same group that founded the Lake County Gazzette, a new newspaper I found in my mail box last week headlining good things about McConchie and critical of his opponents.

I was informed by my neighbor that the Lake County Gazzette was a “phony” newspaper, a Dan Proft PAC gimmick to deceive the voter.

I believe the Daley Herald had a blurb on this underhanded form of political advertisement which can only be laid at the feet of McChonchie.

Maybe this is what is meant by “conservative credentials” of Dan McConchie.

I would not expect anything more from an inside Springfield lobbyist who has spent his career in Springfield on a single issue which never had a chance of gaining traction at the State level.

By the way, it was Dan Duffy who got Martin McLaughlin in this race knowing Marty was the best qualified.

Let’s wait and see where Dan Duffy ends up maybe explaining his alleged irrational change of heart in this blog assumning his endorsement for Mcchoniche on this blog is true.

I am told Duffy is an honorable man, although I never heard of the guy until he contacted Marty about getting in the race, therefore I doubt his support for McChonchie is true.

If so, it says more about Dan Duffy’s lack of character than McChonchie’s ability to hold this office.

What we need is business and pension expertise, something self proclaimed “policy maker” Dan McChonchie does not have.

  3. 1. Could the McConchie campaign please define what is meant by their candidate experienced in conservative policy issues? Way short on specifics.

2.McConchie is no where as well-versed on financial issues as is Martin McLaughlin. Martin owns his own investment company, and oversees millions of dollars in pension assets for clients. He has 25 year record of financial expertise.

    3. As far as conservative credentials, Martin is a grass roots conservative. He believes in small to no government interference, and less regulation across the board. He wants to make sure government doesn’t tax seniors and families unfairly, so that they can prosper in Illnois.

It is pathetic that Oberweis, and others won’t support McLaughlin, rest assured all of the above will not get my vote but McLaughlin definitely will!!

  4. Hey Cal, nice of you to edit your original post without noting it for your readers.

Or did McConchie’s people send a new press release.

Either way, you should have clearly stated the changes and their source.

Newspapers print corrections, and so should you.

    I’m very disappointed in you.

My family and friends have always relied on McHenry County Blog for in-depth coverage of our local issues, but after recent events, I’m not so sure we’ll continue to do so.

  5. I”m done with Dan Proft, and his Liberty Principles PAC.

The 34K which he gave to McConchie’s campaign speaks volumes about what this race represents.

More lobbyist money and influence which is why we have the current Springfield impasse over over 7 months.

His recent mailing in support of McConchie was completely inappropriate showing Martin’s fae super imposed on a sheep’s body.

Suggesting he is a fake Republican.

Martin McLaughlin will win this contest without insulting, demeaning or embarrassing fellow candidates.

Sorry Mr. Proft you just gave a vote over to McLaughlin!

  6. As a young voter, I don’t believe we need the relative of a former football player as a State Senate representative in Springfield to solve our fiscal crisis, nor do we need a special interest promoter in Dan McConchie stifling the work of Governor Rauner.

Governor Rauner needs allies and insightful candidates and McLaughlin offers a new, intelligent strategy on managing money.

He is different and arrogant in a way that will assure that Springfield will get a balanced budget.

Springfield has repeated and demonstrated failures, and the representatives in the house, state and township who did not endorse him.. they continue to facilitate our state’s downgraded credit rating.

Voters need to have a rigid spine and make a conscious choice to throw out the establishment.

Perhaps, then we might finally see the change we’ve been hoping for.

I believe Martin McLaughlin is to be commended for running in this race.

I believe he’s the right man to represent us!

  7. Thinking people might be interested in who came in second, I asked Dan McConchie who came in second and added the information.
