Diane Evertsen’s Member Comments at Tuesday’s County Board Meeting

County Board members allow each member of the Board to offer a prayer or other comments at the beginning of each Board meeting.

Twenty-four Board members; twenty-four months over a two-year period.

Here’s what retiring (having limited herself to two terms) District 6 Board member Diane Evertsen said Tuesday night:

Good Evening!

In keeping with this season of campaigning for political office, I’d like to thank those who have taken it upon themselves to stand up and do their civic duty.

Running for political office of any kind can, and does, visit stress upon the individual and the entire family. . . And God bless the spouse of each and every person running for office. I’d like to read to you a few words that reminded me of a correlation between life itself and political campaigning:

The mother eagle teaches her little ones to fly by making their nest so uncomfortable that they are forced to leave it and commit themselves to the unknown world of air outside.

And just so does our God to us.

He stirs up our comfortable nests, and   pushes us over the edge of them, and we are forced to use our wings to save ourselves from fatal falling.

Read your trials in this light, and see if you cannot begin to get a glimpse of their meaning. Your wings are being developed.” — Hannah Whitall Smith

I’d ask Almighty God to grant His Blessings on each new candidate who has left the safety of their nest to serve the public – as well as those who are currently running to serve additional terms – and ask especially that He continue to Bless and hold in His loving hands those of us who have been deemed “spectacularly inept”.

  1. Beautiful.

Thank you Diane Evertsen for your time on the County Board, fighting for the taxpayer.

Hoping for Schuster and Liebmann to win in Dist 6

  2. Diane, I have followed your conduct on the County Board for many years.

I have often disagreed with your viewpoints and votes.

However, I admire your diligence and integrity.

You are a good example of why term limits are perhaps not always advantageous.

  3. She set the bar.

Let us see if anyone can meet or surpass it.

  4. We’re going to miss Diane..

she was the voice that spoke for all us….

and worked for the common good of our County………….
