Former Nunda Township Trustee Joni Smith is celebrating today.

The Northwest Herald endorsed her candidacy for McHenry County Recorder of Deeds.

“Smith is the most prepared to hit the ground running,” the Editorial Board writes, but urges her “to shrink staff in the office, which is too heavy on supervisors.”

McHenry County Recorder of Deeds Organization Chart, as presented to the Northwest Herald by candidate Joe Tirio. There are 24 employees and 8 supervisors.  Joni Smith supervises three full-time employees and one part-time employee

Opponent Tina Hill is described in loaded words as “a career politician.”

More space is spent on Joe Tirio’s idea to save money–eliminating the elected office of Recorder–an idea which is endorsed.

So Tirio wins a Pyrrhic victory.

His proposal gains approval, while the NWH endorses one of the two candidates who is in favor of keeping the current structure.

  1. YUP- worst possible candidate. Last on my list.

She got a raise the minute she got the job.

Then has a daughter working with her and another in the Clerks office.

    Tirio is the RIGHT CHOICE.

  2. Nepotism is alive and well at monarch senior Karen tirio and Joe tirio work together but rather we are going to pick on someone not even related or even an issues related to the office of recorders race

  3. Last time I checked, Monarch Senior is a private business.

    Nepotism?

    IDIOTIC!

Joe must be out poling the competition – they are grasping at straws!!!

  4. If you read THE NWH endorsement it makes little sense.

They will probably endore Jack again also.

  5. Tina Hill has been a loyal member of the George Ryan Culture of Corruption group in McHenry County.

Therefore, I wonder why the Herald, which is operated for the benefit of the Real Estate Industry, didn’t endorse her?
