Daily Herald Endorses Schofield for State Rep. — 15 Comments

  1. That’s fine if their looking for a soccer mom.

All I can say is “the fix is in’.

The Daily Herald has lost all credibility.

  2. Does the Republican nominee just have to get a plurality of the votes or will there be a run off if Empty Pants Suit and the rest, if none break 50% in the vote?

  3. The difficulty in handicapping any of these candidates for Statewide office is the relative lack of strengths in each.

This said, Carolyn is not the strongest player in this field.

Her ability to stand up to Madigan and his brand of politicking is nearly zero.

Allen may be the best prepared but he is a wholly owned subsidiary of Proft, at this point, and will represent Proft’s interests.

Dan comes from a wonderful family but is damaged by his work experience and the endorsement to which he is beholden.

Serwatka is clearly independent and the least likely to bend to Madigan’s will but will be utterly ineffective in his first term due to a total lack of experience in knowledge of Robert’s Rules nuance and a lack of political relationships.

Madigan doesn’t make unforced errors politically or in Law.

    He is a Master.

The only wins anyone will get against this dictator will be forced errors and it is difficult to handicap who will offer the best chance for these while hoping the individual will still work for his constituency.

The only argument, given the relative inexperience of all of these candidates will be,

    “Whom will each serve?”.

They cannot argue their records or their endorsements because they are all damaged in these respects.

Many are still waiting for a satisfactory insight into this question and what the plan to force Madigan into errors favourable to reasonable representative governance will be from each.

    Soapbox aside, get real.

    Get loud.

And get going as you do not have much time left.

  4. The Daily Herald endorsed her because she’s (to them) the better experienced of the two moderate Republicans in the field.

They said so right in their article.

“She seems to be the closest to a moderate Republican among the four, and vows to find a way to find common ground with Democrats.”

They wanted to endorse a moderate, and she’s their gal.

That said, I hope that the electorate shares a different opinion than the progressive liberal editorial board of the Daily Herald.

Hell, they even bought into the Black Lives Matter insanity and endorsed Kim Foxx over Anita Alvarez.

That should speak more loudly about the Daily Herald’s penchant for progressive liberal politicians than anything.

  5. If one candidate gets 25.1 percent of the vote, they win.

    No runoff.

  6. Not surprising.

Funny thing is many a Lib say the Daily Herald and the NWH are right leaning.

  7. Once again the Daily Herald tends to endorse the politically correct candidate.

They have far more teacher appreciation articles than articles exposing the unsustainable pensions and excess salaries and benefits.

  8. Also Daily Herald deletes some reader comments about salaries and critical comments.

So you end up with a cheerleader article and cheerleader comments.

    Very disappointing.

Other than Jake Griffin and an occasional editorial they are asleep at the wheel in exposing much of what has happened and the current financial state of many government units.

  9. I guess I’ve been banned from BOTH papers, because I’m not even allowed to READ comments at either site.

    Good.

They are both pretty much useless.

  10. **Knowledge voter said: If one candidate gets 25.1 percent of the vote, they win. No runoff.**

Ummm… no. So much for being knowledgeable.

    There is no runoff.

    You’re correct there.

But the winner isn’t the one that gets 25.1% of the vote.

The winner is the one that gets the most votes.

And more than one candidate can get more than 25% of the vote.

But I know. Math is hard.

  11. I’ve been riding the fence on this race.

That said, I knew Carolyn was not a contender.

and I say that as a woman, myself.

SHe’s very nice, she’s very pretty, and she may have been in politicsa longer than the others, but I can’t see how she feels she belongs in the trenches of Springfield.

Recent news articles showing some disturbing endorsements and even more disturbing and quite substantial contributions, to both she and Mr. Skillicorn made it even easier to eliminate them both.

Today, I read this Northwest Herald article and my decision was made.

There is no more evidence of a candidate who truly means to serve the people.
