When I got a copy of the independent mailing for Martin McLaughlin, candidate for State Senate in Dan Duffy’s district, I went to the Illinois State Board of Elections looking for its cost.

In the report for the National Association of Realtors Fund, I discovered the following, which was reported on February 5th:

  • $21,100 in support of State Rep. candidate Carolyn Schofield for direct mail, phone calls and online ads
  • $29,200 in support of State Senate candidate Martin McLaughlin for direct mail, phone calls and online ads

Realtors Fund Kick In $50,000 to Schofield & McLaughlin — 9 Comments

  1. It makes sense those involved in real estate and business would support a candidate like Marty McLaughlin who is an expert in pensions, ran his own business and has dealt with significant budgets and government issues as President of Barrington Hills.

Jump: Labels like “liberal” might play with the drones who have blindly pledged allegiance to Joe Walsh and Dan Proft candidates like Knowledge Voter, but to actual thinking conservatives, this makes all the sense in the world.

Unlike Proft and Walsh, this organization actually vetted the candidates first and determined a single issue lobbyst like Dan McConchie simply did not have the skill-set to deal with the fiscal problems confronting Illinois.

Cal, again, would you please publish the education and work background of these candidates running for Senate in 26th District as we cannot have an entire campaign season where a candidate for State Senate like Dan McConchie is allowed to hide his background.

This is doing the voters in the 26th District a great disservice.

  2. 2015 Was a good year for realtors, a very good year.

2016 Looks to be on track to surpass 2015, as the Great Exodus from Illinois continues …

  3. To quote the inestimable former State Representative Mike Brown:

“Those real estate people would sell their Grandmother if there was a 7% commission in it for them.”

  4. I sold my house to build just down the same block.

The commission was 5%, I know of no realtor charging hire %.

  5. Just because 5% is in the standard residential listing agreement doesn’t mean that the parties can’t negotiate something different. . .

  6. All three candidates’ door-to-door literature will be published this week.

  7. Boethius, that is true, but how many sellers will want to raise it 2% like Charles was saying?

Lower ya, or raise the % if the realtor pays closing costs or something extra on their end.

  8. O.K. David, I’ll bite: “blindly pledged allegiance to Joe Walsh and Dan Proft candidates like Knowledge Voter”
