Althoff Gives $40,000 to Schofield, Tryon $5,000

The polling data for Carolyn Schofield must not be as good as I would expect it to be, considering she is the only woman in a four-way race.

The evidence is the transfer of $45,000 from incumbent McHenry County legislators’ campaign funds to hers.

State Senator Pam Althoff transferred $40,000 and State Rep. Mike Tryon wrote a check for $5,000 to Carolyn Schofield's campaign fund.

Tryon had about $26,000 in his fund before the gift; Althoff about $128,000.

The contributions certainly show that the two McHenry County legislators care more about things Springfield than those at the Courthouse.

No contribution of $1,000 or more have been given to other candidates endorsed by Tryon. Althoff has not issued a similar endorsement email.

  1. This is remarkable for many reasons:

    1) Althoff has been there too long and has collected too much money.

    2) Lobbyists have so much influence they continue to donate large $$ to entrenched legislators to increase that influence.

    3) Althoff contributes an enormous amount to a candidate in the Primary – clearly indicating that Schofield is the Establishment candidate….I bet she wouldn’t donate that much if Schofield were running against a Democrat.

    4) Althoff does this at a time when the average Republican voter HATES the Establishment.

  2. It’s obscene! I could live very well for a year on $40,000!

It just makes me sick that so much money is wasted on total nonsense.

I once heard someone espouse that total campaign contributions should be limited to $5 each.

    Seems reasonable to me.

  3. Let us pray for poetic justice!

    Serwatka wins in a landslide!!

  4. Almost everyone campaigning for office this year is ‘spouting’ support for lower property taxes.

While our property taxes may be high, lowering them will do absolutely nothing to ‘fix’ the fiscal problems of all units of government.

    The problem is P-E-N-S-I-O-N-S!!!!!

Show me one piece of literature which displays an effort to revise the State Constitutional guarantee of public sector pensions!

Show me one piece of literature which displays an effort to END public sector wage increases!

Show me one piece of literature which displays support for an end to Prevailing Wage laws!

Show me one piece of literature which displays support for an end to forced public sector union due payments!!

  5. Talk about desperation!

The ESTABLISHMENT GOP trots out the loser Romney to get more people to come out and vote for Trump while locally Tryon and Althoff give more conservatives and independents a reason to run into the voting booth to show support for people such as Serwatka, Liebmann, Marter, Tirio, Schuster, Barnes, Snarski, Kenneally, Tsilimigras, Reick, (the lesser of two evils – Walkup), Wilcox, Thorsen, Wilbeck.

We, The People do not support COMPROMISE!!

Compromise resulted in guaranteed public sector pensions which we cannot afford!!

  6. Oh the Web we weave.

    40k

There is so much more at stake than we are lead to believe.

    40k

    Unreal… but real.

People have to decide that local politics matter.

    Back to the grind.

  7. Come on, Knowledge voter, that’s a good list minus the deadly duo of Liebman and Shuster.

One is a no nothing, no credential novice and the other thinks, incorrectly, that she knows all.

Let’s hope voters are forwarned and forearmed in Seneca township.

  8. **Like many other primaries, this race is a proxy battle between Rauner and Madigan.**

LOL – who, exactly, is the Madigan candidate?

Stand on your own merits – don’t make absurd statements implying you’re running against a Madigan candidate.
