Literature of the Candidates for McHenry County Board Chairman — 11 Comments

  1. Political “slogans” and hollow promises.

The problem with both these candidates is they have been on the McHenry County Board for years increasing taxation on residents.

Until a candidate in the 2013 election for Board raised the issue of excess reserves at Valley Hi, both of these Board members were unaware of it and for two years thereafter did nothing.

It is only now during election time that one of these candidates is discussing possible solutions while the other continues to sleep.

No matter who wins, rest assured, the “gravy train” on the dime of the taxpayers will continue. They will do this all the while telling us how conservative they are. . .

  2. Note that career Democrat Mike Walkup does not refer to his political activity as a Democrat candidate and activist, and has never backed the Republican Party against the Democrats.

No wonder the Northwest herald called him a “RAT”.

  3. @Stieper The county levy has was flat for 2014 & 2015 and reduced by 2016.

How does that constitute increasing taxation on residents?

Yes, Valley Hi is an issue and something should be done about it.

For 2016 the Valley Hi tax is 0 (I believe).

The County portion of the tax bill is approximately 8%.

If your beef is with property taxes, there are bigger fish to focus on.

  4. So Mike Walkup will fight for smaller government and lower taxes?

What will his allies in the Teachers Union say, as 80% of our tax bill goes to education?

When I cut taxes and shank the size of the Nunda Supervisor’s Office, he allied himself with the George Ryan culture of Corruption Locals, the Nepotists, and tax cheaters to run against me.

  5. Why does Joe not remind people of his flip flop on the power plant that he wanted to be built .

That was a true showing of his character !

  6. I don’t vote for Democrats.

Including Democrats pretending to be “Republicans,” like Mike Walkup…

  7. Tryon’s bill to stop a person from holding two elected positions is to late this time.

    To bad.
