“McHenry County pays among the highest property taxes in the country.

“That won’t change until government does everything it can to control costs.”, said Joe Tirio, candidate for McHenry County Recorder.

“When elected, I vow to pursue consolidation of the Recorder’s functions and staff into the Clerk’s office and to abolish the Recorder’s position.

That will save $105,000 in salary, plus $10,000 – $20,000 in medical benefit costs, plus employer costs, plus pension, every year, forever.”

McLean, Peoria and Tazewell counties have already passed referenda to merge their offices.

LaSalle and Champaign counties are considering it now and Cook County (17 times the population of McHenry County) was one vote shy of consolidation in a past vote.

“My opponents say that McHenry County is too big to consolidate the offices.

The fact that Cook County came so close to doing what I propose, shows that size doesn’t matter when it comes to this issue.”

  1. Working with Joe on community organizing is a pleasure. He is a smart and effective leader, able to achieve results.

Joe is inclusive and approachable while still keeping a group focused on the task at hand.

We are fortunate to have such a clearly selfless choice available in this election.

  2. ….the day after the election of Tirio, ‘lil Joni the Swag-lady will be all tear-eo!

  3. I will be walking my precinct this weekend for Joe.

On Monday I will be working the Fox River Grove Train station for Joe as well AND Daisy the Wonder Dog will accompany me as she is endorsing Joe too.

Stop by and visit with us, Daisy loves to talk consolidation!

  4. Joe Tirio is for responsible, limited government.

He won’t hire his wife and give her a 29 percent pay raise in one year.

Nor will he hire his daughter and give her a 19 percent pay raise in one year.

It is all in the county documents – just quietly tucked away.

The nepotism and patronage run deep in McHenry County.

I will only vote for Joe Tirio one time – because he won’t need a second term.

Do you want career bureaucrats or reformer minded, business savvy people?

  5. 19% RAISE??

    29% RAISE?????

    What the Hell?

THIS is at the expense of all the other non-family workers!!

    AND TAXPAYERS!

    Holy Moly, VOTING JOE TIRIO!!

  6. We already know you’re the right man for losing this job, Joe!

No kidding, you have my vote.

  7. If I had a dollar for every time a politician promised to lower my taxes during their campaign, I could pay my taxes!

    Sorry, I’m not buying it

  8. Really Andrew Once again show us the proof?

Andrew never answer me. I was wonder why?

  9. TirioTirio why should we believe that this is not a self serving ploy for the 105,000 a year salary plus benefits that you will receive.

4 years and 405,000 seems to be a good motivator.

I am sure that you belive in your own mind that this is about the people; nevertheless it is what you have convinced yourself since you first thought up this idea.

This is demonstrated by the ever changing explaination of how this would be done.

First you were saving 10 million than it was 40 million than it was never mind that does not matter.

You remind me of a story about the man behind the black curtain called the Wizard of Oz.

You tell people do not pay attention to the reasons I previously gave because that does not matter, rather pay attention to the things I have conjured up that sound better.

This erase the recorder is nothing more than empty promises.

It is like the liberals all say we need food stamps and free support for “the children”.

It is for the children is a political slogan just like your claim this is tax savings for the people.

I cannot wait until Tuesday to toast the new county recorder and I know it won’t be you.

  10. Pa-blow, you didn’t read the plan, you didn’t look at the facts.

    Other counties have done it.

But the best part is Joe IS getting rid of the recorders elected, overblown salaried, strictly Figurehead position and we can’t wait to cast our vote!

It will be a great savings of unneeded spending for the county operations.

And what have YoU done for us lately?

I would revisit remedial math if I were you.

Seems you Pablo are the one that has to drop you pants in order to count to 21.

    Voting for Joe Tirio !
