From the Lake in the Hills Police Department:
LAKE IN THE HILLS EAST SIDE OF TOWN/EAST OF CRYSTAL LAKE RD. SERVICE RESTORED.
BOIL ALL DRINKING/COOKING WATER PRIOR TO USE FOR 24 HOURS
PLEASE FOLLOW BOIL ORDER INSTRUCTIONS.
BOIL ALL DRINKING/COOKING WATER PRIOR TO USE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS
Why were the residents not notified I had to find out from a friend.
My kids brushed their teeth before bed, this clearly is a health hazard.
Can you tell us why there is a boil order?
We were away and the only reason we found out was the email from the school principal.
Please don’t call us the old part of Lake in the Hills.
We are the tree or presidents sections.
We know that.
Maybe I should have identified the area as the part of Lake in the Hills with trees.
Why was there a water boil issued??!!!
It is outrageous that the village would not notify us.
If the area is that small, send out a truck with a loudspeaker.
I couldn’t even find this on the village website-I had to Google it.
Ridiculous.
Here’s some more information and a list of boil order rules from Cook County

We have a letter on our bulletin board in our condo entrance.
Unfortunately, it didn’t arrive soon enough.
We already used our water for cooking, bathing and brushing teeth.
It just says there was a malfunction in the computer processor that controls the water flow.
Therefore, as a precaution, BOIL all water.
It’s not very specific.
Figures.
If you were signed up for Nixle, you would have received the info.
If you live in LITH, go to the link below.
If you live elsewhere, look up your local link.
You are paying for this service, you may as well use it.

like everyone else, we too did not receive the information in a timely manner and bathed, cooked and washed clothes and dishes.
This clearly is a health hazard, which we were exposed to unknowingly.
I just found out today, Monday afternoon at work.
A friend in another neighborhood called to ask if I knew about the boil order,
I did not.
I agree it’s a little off to call us the “Old Part” of LITH.
Yes it’s true but there are better ways to say it without making our neighborhood seem dilapidated, which it’s not.
It’s very nice.
“Eastern side” or “near Algonquin and Pyott Rd” works better.
The police Dept did fine labelling us in their communications.
