Jim Durkin, the Republican Leader of the Illinois House is coming to the McHenry Township Republican Party’s Meet & Greet, plus Candidate Forum Sunday afternoon some time between 3 and 6 at the Johnsburg Community Club (across from St. John’s Catholic Church).
Those attending can enjoy a $5 corned beef and cabbage dinner–cheapest good meal in McHenry County today.
The reason for his appearance is probably related to the $32,500 that allies of House Speaker Mike Madigan have dumped into a pop-up committee that first appeared on Wednesday to dirty the name of the real Republican candidate for State Rep., Steve Reick.
Here are the special interest contributions to the campaign to destroy Democrat Jack Franks’ legitimate GOP fall opponent:
- $15,000 from the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association PAC (3-9)
- $12,500 from the teachers’ union called the Illinois Education Association Political Action Committee(3-8)
- $5,000 from SEIU (Service Employees International Union) Healthcare (3-9)
