The First Electric Newspaper reports that McHenry County State’s Attorney Lou Bianchi will ask for a Special Prosecutor for the man arrested by Crystal Lake Police for stealing one of Assistant State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally’s signs.
Apparently, Bianchi understands that it would be a conflict of interest for his office to prosecute John Walsh, the man arrested, because Kenneally is running for State’s Attorney.

I wonder if he was responding as a representative of the State’s Attorneys office or personally.
It was the middle of the work day
Not only one their were two representative at the scene before the CL PD arrived.
It is not the duty of the State’s Atty office to DO justice as Kenneally has been campaigning. It is the duty of the State’s Atty to SEEK justice.
If this is any window into what will happen if Kenneally gets elected, I’ll pass on voting for him.
What Walsh did was wrong, but it’s a misdemeanor.
The taxpayers should not have to foot the bill for a special prosecutor– this is just petty election antics.

John Walsh should not have moved the signs. It is not petty election antics, it’s against the law. Those signs cost time and money for the candidates and the people who are promoting their candidates. Personally, I think the guy should get the maximum if he is convicted. Send the message loud and clear that stealing the opponents signs will not be tolerated under any circumstance.
Further, there should be a special prosecutor in place to assure there is no conflict of interest. John Walsh won’t get off with a slap on the wrist, he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
This will get dragged on for awhile and cost the tax payer lots of money
Kenneally was very persistence in the charges against Walsh ????
