Shift of GOP Power Evident in Mike Tryon Endorsement Piece

Of course, the 2014 Republican Party Convention showed that a significant shift in power had occurred when Sandra Salgado was selected over outgoing Chairman Mike Tryon’s choice–Mark Daniel.

But, those in control during the Al Jourdan legacy years still were quite active in this election.

They sent out a post card with Tryon’s endorsing a slate of candidates who paid for the mailing.

One of the what might be called the New Establishment told me that the only candidate endorsed by the Old Establishment who won was Judge James Cowlin.

Another winner endorsed by Tryon was County Board member John Reinert.

Reinert had an interesting cross-over appeal to those supporting appointed incumbent Jeff Thorsen, who was not endorsed by Tryon.

The only winner on this endorsement from State Rep. (and former McHenry County Republican Party Chairman) Mike Tryon was appointed Judge James Cowlin.

In Tryon’s District 6 post card endorsed candidates who won were Cowlin and County Board candidate Jim Kearns.

  1. Why did Trump and Sanders do so well in this county?

With Hilaryious on the ballot in November, will all the Berners come to the polls?

This blog and the people who post here played a very large part in why voter turnout in this primary was so large.

Too bad the voters chose this County Clerk who has forever posted a question mark on the results.

Next election watch to see who has their signs posted on Operating Engineers property.

Local 150 may be able to funnel PAC money to candidates but Local 150 does not appear to care if a candidate is competent or not.

Also, remember Local 150 is causing taxpayer dollars to be used to fight their lawsuit!!!!

  2. There, now that we have Mike Tryon out of the way, let us all concentrate on getting rid of Jack Franks.

Jack Franks who SAYS he is against tax increases but fully supported McHenry County Township consolidation which was known to cause increases in property taxes.

Now, one his sidekicks, Pam Althoff has submitted legislation to further complicate County / Township government structure!

The County Board wisely voted against placing this on the ballot.

    Why do I say wisely?

We have some of the dumbest voters who approve tax increases!

Let’s start with their approval of the 708 Board, the Senior tax, the Valley Hi tax, the State Constitution which GUARANTEES public sector pensions AND a minimum increase of three percent per year in those pensions!

In Hebron Township they just approved a tax increase; Johnsburg just approved a tax increase!

  3. The biggest shift of power wasn’t to the new crew in McHenry County.

    It was to Proft/Rauner.

  4. Because Proft and Rauner were SO influencial in the States Attorney race, the recorder race, the county board chairman race, and County board races.

I think Mike Tryon still has a lot of influence in McHenry County.

    So does Senator Althoff.

  5. Your comment has left me confused.

What makes you think that Proft and Rauner were involved in the States Attorney race, the recorder race, the county board chairman race, and County board races?

I saw no evidence of that.

  6. Tryon endorsed Regna who ran virtually no campaign.

What does that say about Tryon and his influence.

That had to be an endorsement made of spite/dislike for Bianchi as it made no sense, much like Tryon’s career in the legislature.

  7. Cal – I think Woodstock Resident was being sarcastic.

Rauner did not do anything for people running in those races.
