Mike Tryon
State Rep. Mike Tryon, retiring at the end of this term, used to be both McHenry County Board Chairman and McHenry County Republican Central Committee Chairman.
He sent out an email two weeks before the election endorsing the following County Board candidates (incumbents appear here in boldface type):
McHenry County Board
- District 1: Anna May Miller
- District 2: Cameron Hubbard and John Reinert
- District 3: Nancy Gonsiorek and Nick Provenzano
- District 4: Sue Draffkorn and Craig Wilcox
- District 5: Michael Skala and Joe Calomino
- District 6: Preston Rea and Jim Kearns
Here are those he endorsed who won nomination in the Republican Primary Election:
- District 2: John Reinert
- District 3: Nick Provenzano
- District 4: Craig Wilcox
- District 5: Mike Skala
- District 6: Jim Kearns
Tryon had a 45% success rate in his incumbent endorsements.
Over all, his favorites won 5 our 11.
The people that contributed to those failed campaigns must not be happy after taking Mike’s line up as a good investment.
Junk Bonds would of been a better deal. 🙂
I would argue that the new establishment backed candidates have about the same success rate.
The New Establishment did win three out of four countywide races–Recorder of Deeds, State’s Attorney and County Board Chairman.
Ah. The Hatfields vs The McCoys…can we please move on and remember we need to work together in November?
Who is going to step up and pull the Republican Party in McHenry County out of this rancor mess?

I recall he once crashed a special party meeting to try and get a real Republic lady on the ballot against his pal Franks, and had a hiss-fit against the nomination with his factotums Joe Goat-mauler & CO.
His true RINO colors could no longer be hidden.
Now he’s a little asterisk and disgraceful footnote for Big Al’s Chicago Tenth Ward menagerie who stole the County years ago.
They helped ruin the State … so shed no tears for those porcine mooks who fattened at the Governmental trough.
